I don't think that you really need to worry about quality with these. Lands End makes amazing backpacks. If my daughter were a little older, I'd snap one up right now. There is no doubt in my mind that they are far better than just about anything that Target sells.

As far as the getting bored thing, I can't address that. I might be tempted to just tell him to deal with it, though.

This is a great find! Rep to OP. I'd snap this up but my kids prefer rolling backpacks. But might get a neutral color just to have for trips and stuff.

Oh, but Land's End quality is usually *FAR* beyond the cheap ones that Target has. My kids have blown through several Target ones already. Don't get me wrong, I love Target and the deals they offer but Land's End quality is much higher. Besides, they have a great waranty! I didn't see anything on the site disclaiming that this didn't qualify for their lifetime waranty.

Land's End usually backs their products with a lifetime waranty. If you are EVER dissatisified with a purchace, you can return it or they will REPLACE it. It usually gets replaced but they will substitute a similar current product.

I had actually taken on part time work once for extra money in college at a call center and heard a first hand story where someone had a pair of shoes they loved and were calling to find replacements but they were discontinued. The company was so happy to hear the customer loved them but no longer offered the item. The supervisor offered to replace them at no cost with a similar item. That's service. Oddly enough, the customer kept offering to pay for them but was sent the item free of charge. You just don't get that anywhere now days.

Yes, Land's End is usually expensive but sometimes, it's just worth it. I have no fear ordering these (it's a great price!) and will replace the 3 month old ones from Target.

My dad had one of the Lands End backpacks when he was doing some college courses. I used it afterwards for school, too. We still have it and it has been over 20 years! His has the leather bottom so that made it wear extremely well, but I would definately say that Lands End does make a good quality backpack.

Also have to agree about Land's End quality...and service. Good company to do business with.

I had planned to keep them for next year, but once they came the boys begged to use them! They were the talk of the bus stop with the lights flashing on the straps and accross the back. I got big hugs on this one!

My boys are 7 and 9 and are thrilled with the way they look. I love the quality materials and the safety feature of the lights. The straps are very comfortable with thick padding (it feels like a type of memory foam.)

I purchased backpacks from Landsend over 2 years ago for the boys. They still were using them up until this past Friday. They had wear (mostly from boy abuse!), but still looked good. The quality is fantastic!
