Cache has little to no impact on performance. Sometimes the bigger cache HDDs even perform slower.

I don't know if this is true or not and I'm not saying that you're wrong. But I have a 8MB and a 16MB cache drives and the 16MB cache drives just wipes the floor with the other especially when reading and writing to the same drive (e.g. making a copy of a DV file before you tinker with it).

Just my 2 cents.
