Like has been mentioned. The write speed is slower than IDE or SATA can transfer, so the difference would probably go un-noticed, unless maybe you were benchmarking it. On that note, I prefer the smaller cables of SATA in my case as opposed to the ribbon cables. Smaller cables benefits looks and airflow.

sata uses smaller cables, since some boards don't like certain sata drives without certain drivers IDE is probably less troublesome, but more than one IDE drive is putting two on one cable, IDE is more compatible with older computers. Pros and cons for each, but not a big deal either way. I'll take whichever one is cheaper. |
