Yes, due to the fact your PC is only as fast as its slowest point. Your IDE Burner being the slowest point in this equation. Sata has a much faster read/writer speed compared to the IDE standard that was around way too long. But then again, if you do not do allot of burning, I guess it does not really matter.

The write speed is slower than IDE or SATA can transfer, so the difference would probably go un-noticed, unless maybe you were benchmarking it. On that note, I prefer the smaller cables of SATA in my case as opposed to the ribbon cables. Smaller cables benefits looks and airflow.

sata uses smaller cables, since some boards don't like certain sata drives without certain drivers IDE is probably less troublesome, but more than one IDE drive is putting two on one cable, IDE is more compatible with older computers.

Pros and cons for each, but not a big deal either way. I'll take whichever one is cheaper.
