good deal on black macbook for $1,049. They havent really upgraded much in the new macbooks anyway. No Led display or anything like that, only a bit bigger hard drive and an extra gig or ram. Is there any student or government discounts on the refurbs

No - not on the hardware; but you do get about a third off the AppleCare extended warranty.
