Also per Acomdata's Website [acomdata.com] this drive has a 1 year warranty [acomdata.com]. You could also try to register the S/N on WD's site but i'm sure this drive is flagged as OEM so wouldn't have any warranty through WD. Also the internal drive is SATA II, but the enclosure is SATA I so you would only see 1.5Gbps throughput using as eSATA.

3g/s drive inside a 1.5g/s enclosure? BRILLIANT!
This little tidbit of information has killed the deal for me... well sort of. I'm trying to build a raid setup with 2 or 4 1tb drives so this might work for me... and then I can just sell the empty enclosures on fleaBay, I guess. Regardless, repping OP for the deal and also Jughead for the very relevant information. I'm disappointed newegg would sell a drive capable of 3g/s but bottleneck that speed by placing it inside a 1.5g/s enclosure. Regardless of my negative comments, I still thumbed up this thread. Oh well... still on the fence. It'll probably sell out prior to making up my mind anyway... :-)

ACOMDATA Rebate FYII've done at least 2 acomdata rebate before. 1) Make sure to keep a copy of whatever you send, and mark your calendar. 2) You will likely have to call in to do a so-called "Confirmation". Acomdata is tricky, because if anything they should call you to confirm whatever, but they don't say anything unless you call them "why haven't I received my check?" then they will say, "oh we just needed your confirmation, thank you for confirming, your check will be sent next week" (confirm what?? I have no clue). |
