Looks like it's back in stock!!! at least for me here in NJ -- pal on 4/4/2008 @ 5.50pm EDT 
Your card and switch must support Jumbo Frames in order to achieve a higher bandwidth on a gigabit network, this card supports a MTU or frame size of 7500 bytes.

May now be OOS in some areas (I checked in NY and MA, so probably at least for the whole NorthEast)
If you ordered last night, your order probably says virtual warehouse pending--OD often ships via TechDepot (a division) or from other suppliers, so they may not know stock, but they are usually fairly accurate.

I have these. They are equivalent to generic Realtek 8169 chipset boards that can be had everywhere for $10. The card is good for an older PC that does not have PCI-Express slots. They run really hot and they are not capable of running full gigabit speeds due to the bandwidth of the PCI bus. Make sure it has the heat sink on the chip or it will start working erratically when it warms up.
Speaking of speeds and price there are some PCI-Express cards for about $10 more at Newegg that do gigabit at full speed. This is why most motherboards have a lonely PCIe-1x slot in them--for RAID and for Gigabit ethernet. . Last edited by aegrotatio; 04-01-2008 at 02:19 PM.. |
