Thread Details

Before the complaints come in asking why this is in Hot Deals, this needs some exposure right now.

If any of you signed up for a GreenZap Gold account many many years ago, it looks like someone managed to get their database of bank accounts and routing numbers, and is using that information to print up checks for varying amounts (i.e. $19.75, $19.95) and cash them at a Nevada Bank of America. The "Pay to" is listed as Three, Inc, and the memo is "eSafe Payment - 1-866-925-1969". Calls to that phone number go to a voicemail system (naturally). After doing some quick Googling, I figured out that the common denominator is that all victims have had a GreenZap Gold account.

I've already called BofA to dispute the charge and to block future payments, as apparently this is a recurring transaction. So, if any of you has or has had a GreenZap account, take a look at your bank accounts for any fraudulent checks.

Nothing like an extreme example to get a point across. I mean, I know posting that was wrong, but hey, since I know it was wrong it's just fine.
well I understand what you're trying to say but this hasn't been the first time..heck I think at one point a fraud alert was actually sticked by a mod in the Hot Deals forum for everyone to see...as it's just the forum to get the point across..

Another company recently purchased greenzap, and for some reason there are automatic debits being taken out of bank accounts. The charges are $19.75 and are labeled as a check, mine was #1001, and is made out to Three, Inc.

I noticed this a week ago and made a call to the number on the check on thursday (866-925-1969). They apologized and said they would refund the money and I would notice it in 48 hours. I CHECKED TODAY TO SEE IF IT WAS REFUNDED AND THERE IS ANOTHER CHARGE FOR $19.75, THIS TIME CHECK #1002.
The lady on the phone told me they were getting a lot of calls about this so I know it isn't just me.

This is why you should never link bank account info on shady websites.

Dude, the same thing happened to me. BTW: Don't call the Greenzap number, those are all russian scumbag scammers. CALL your bank immediately and complain that u did not authorize the charges. Also ask them to transfer your money to a different number. You will still get deposits in the older account (from u'r job) but the older one can't be used to withdraw money. Again, You really should call u'r bank asap.

I'd also submit a complaing to Better Business Bureau, since they still have the website up and running. If you haven't done it before, it's a relatively easy process. Go to www.bbb.org and fill out a complaint online.
