OK, to all those who stuck with the purchase, despite all the "advice" from others, here is the response I got from the rebate center:

"The sales department confirmed that 2600XT256PESB and 2600XT256PE3SB are the same products. I have attached a revised coupon. Please include this email and the coupon together with your other rebate documents.

It turns out that there was some distribution problem between diamond and buy.com, and buy.com is selling the PE3SB instead of the PESB. The confusing part is that they allegedly are the same exact cards (same specs and everything) as we originally surmised back on page 1 based on the ZZF rebate form. Good news is that what buy.com has is exactly what is described (GDDR3, dual DVI). Anyway, the product manager is in meetings until the end of the day, and there is no way they can come up with a general remedy to this problem for everyone until monday. However, if you need a solution sooner than then, you can contact the rebate center at:

and they can make individual exceptions until such time that the rebate situation is fixed by sending you a modified rebate coupon. Please be nice to whoever you speak to, they have been nothing but helpful and prompt in dealing with this.

As an addendum to the above, I also just received this note from Diamond in response to an email to customer support:

"We do not list the SB versions on our site. They are white box packaged but
essentially the same product otherwise. Buy.com is running some rebates for
us and I just discovered this morning that the rebate form is for the
2600XT256 DDR2 version instead of DDR3. We will be fixing this. If you
purchase the 2600XTPE3SB (and the Buy.com site lists this with the rebate),
we will honor the rebate.

Hope this clears up the confusion.

I just received a follow up email saying that they would be posting the new rebate coupon on buy.com immediately, just FYI.

I wouldn't count my rebate dollars until they come in, but it's looking good. Not a bad card for $7 shipped. If only I hadn't spent half my morning dealing with this! Not a good incentive for posting front page deals!
