To help answer some questions that's been ask over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, here's a quick breakdown of the deal:
1) There are two PS3 40gig promotion associated with Walmart. One is an instore (B&M) promotion and the other is online (Walmart.com).
~ The online promotion has started already. The $100 online giftcard can only be used to purchased things on Walmart.com, however you can purchase gift cards with it as well to be used in store.
~ The instore promotion will begin June 1st, 2008. The $100 gift card can be used in the store to purchase any items, not just Blu-Ray items.
2) No, you CANNOT expect to buy the bundle, return the PS3 and hope to keep the $100 gift card for free.
3) No, the 40 gig PS3 does NOT have backward compatibility for PS2 games. However, the 40 gig PS3 does have backwards compatibility with PS1 games. The 80 gig version IS compatible with Ps2 games(though only 80% of the titles).
4) The 40 gig PS3 comes with the normal Sixaxis remote. The Sixaxis has a motion sensor, but lacks vibration feedback that is included with the newly-released DualShock3

Wow, this sounds like it will be huge. You can get a PS3 for essentially 199 with the Sony card. Of course the walmart giftcard sounds like it may only be applicable for Blu-rays but who knows.

you're going to need to post the ad. cause I don't care how expensive a ps3 is... it doesn't make any sense. I mean you're leveraging 3 bluray movies to sell a 1 ps3... If a store made 20 bucks profit for every bluray sold (which is ridiculous)... the net profit. -40 bucks... cause stores don't make jack off the systems. it just doesn't make any sense.
I mean you expect companies to leverage a ps3 to sell like a 2000 dollar hdtv. net profit like 3-400 dollars and the privilege to sell more products exlcusively from sony. cause damn i'm really hoping this is legit. Yeah I do sound like I'm downplaying this but in reality, I'm hoping I'm wrong because I do want to take advantage of this slickdeal... It just doesn't make any sense to me... lol. but then again so far. sony did this in january, target did something like this February... so i mean there's a trend.
