nice. too bad my old Sony DAV990 Dream System speakers can't use this receiver. would love to get the additional hdmi and component inputs

I'm a bit puzzled about this as well. First I interpreted this to mean that the audio will not be sent through HDMI to the TV, and you'll need a separate connection to your speakers. Then I thought it could be the exact opposite, and that the audio WILL be sent to your TV (or whatever device you have plugged to your HDMI output), and you'll need to create a loop between your HDMI-output device and this receiver. Can anyone who knows more about this receiver care to comment on this?

my understanding is picture + sound will pass through receiver to TV by HDMI cable but it won't give you sound on your receiver's speakers which's most people wanted(like my self).
that what Fry's tech guy told me yesterday. some higher models will decoded sound but i'm sure this one doesn't
