Ok people.....so this isn't asked 385403280427408230482305 times....you buy this so you can control your PS3 with your universal IR remote (i.e. Harmony). You don't buy it for the high quality remote, you buy it for the dongle (uh huh huh, you said dongle). YOU CAN'T POWER ON/OFF YOUR PS3 with this method. It works well, only thing I notice is a SLIGHT delay.

If this isn't good enough for you stick with the extra Sony Bluetooth remote or buy the IR2BT device at www.ir2bt.com for $55 +S/H (good luck getting one in stock). They work very well also and there is no difference between your universal remote and the Sony Bluetooth remote when using the IR2BT device.

This makes your PS3 work with an IR remote instead of the PS3 bluetooth remote.

I think 99% of people who buy this get it so they can control their PS3 DVD functions with a programmable IR remote.
