i guess i forgot to add, at Advance Auto, you can get ANY mobil1 oil, which means if you get the extended performance mobil1 oil, its still $27, compared to $30 at Autozone. i dont care about the filter, i only use manufacturer oil filters.
I was just in Auto Zone yesterday, and they're running several oil change packages, starting at $15. Sure, they aren't as good as a premium brand like Mobil 1, (think they may have been Castrol packages?), but they're also worth checking into.
I mixed and matched, though. Bought a 5 quart jug of Shell Formula 10W-30 and for $10.99 and a $3 Fram filter. Plenty of decent deals to be had if you stop by a parts store at the moment.
ALSO: For those of you who are willing to let others touch your car, the 2008 Entertainment Book has a 50% off oil change coupon for Monroe (YMMV - different books, different coupons. Depends on your market). The sign at my local Monroe has changes for $18.99 and Thursdays are Ladie's specials for $13.99, making the price $9.50 after coupon (and $6.995, if they stack the coupon on the promo). This might also be worth looking into for some of you Slickdealers, as well! Hope this helps someone!
