"If you have a prepaid membership, 24 Hour will not increase your Guaranteed Annual Renewal Amount on the front page of this Agreement, so long as you remain a member in good standing." This is from my contract from 3 years ago. BTW the contract does state that if you have monthly membership, they may increase your monthly dues once per calendar year. |

I went into the new 24 hour fitness in my area (Miami, FL) to see it before I purchased the Costco deal. I told the sales associate about it, and he asked his manager. The manager said that they had a promotion for $299.99 prepaid for 2 years if I was a Costco member. I signed up since it's about the same as ordering online. If you're a new member, it doesn't hurt to try to mention the deal at the gym if you want to sign up now instead of waiting for the online deal.

But here's the thing, in the new agreement it no longer saids "Guaranteed Annual Renewal Amount: $20".. The new agreement saids "Prepaid initial annual renewal amount: $20" And also under section 3(c) Right to Increase Dues in the fine print, it now saids "If you have a prepaid membership, 24 Hour will not increase your Initial Annual Renewal Amount on page 1 of this agreement, but may increase all subsequent annual renewal amounts." So when I saw that, I called them up and told 'em that I can't sign the agreement unless they send me something in writing stating that my terms will be exactly the same as the old one. Spoke to several reps over the phone over the course of a few weeks and they all said that the renewal amount won't go up for a prepaid membership but told me they don't have a way to send me something in writing. In the end though (last wk), I received a letter in the mail from a "Member Care Supervisor" stating that my new agreement (HZxxxxx) was written to replace my old one (EQxxxx) and all terms will be the same. It was a pain in the butt but I'm glad I straightened it out with them. SO, to sum it up.. The new agreement is definitely diff from a few years back. It no longer saids.. "If you have a prepaid membership, 24 Hour will not increase your Guaranteed Annual Renewal Amount on the front page of this Agreement, so long as you remain a member in good standing." Sorry for the long post!

Got in on this - I'll let you guys know how it works out...
My Scenario; I'm a former member on an Employee Rate/Plan @ $24/mo All club access - I was originally added as an additional member to an existing account, however I failed to pay it **OOPS** So when I called to reinstate my membership they told me I'd have to go into a club and sign up as a BRAND NEW member... Then, I stumbled on this thread 289.99 + 10.1 (Shipping) = $300.29 / 24mo = $12.51/monthly = SWEEET DEAL if it works out for me...

mistakes???
Seems like they make a lot of these "mistakes". Same thing happened to my girlfriend recently. She was on the $700 for 4yrs plan and ~$45/yr after after that. The 4 yr term came up and she made a credit card payment for the next year. For some reason the credit card was charged but 24hr failed to put her in the system as paid. Luckily the receptionist told her about the non-payment that she had in the system and they took care of it without signing another contract agreement. How did you still get in if they failed to update the system that you had paid?

After reading on the net and in these forums about all the complaints re: 24 Hour Fitness and other big-chain gyms re: cancelling gym memberships and unauthorized/unknown credit card charges, this deal is all the more sweeter. You don't have to give them your credit card # when you redeem your voucher. All you need is some id. It is so sweet to not have to go thru the credit card bullshit that people all seem to get caught up in.

Secondly Bally's is not 24 Hour fitness they increase there dues since they keep going bankrupt most recently october 2007. Its been like 11 times. The best deal out right now is 599 for 3 years with a 49 renewal (includes 4 sessions of personal training) with a family add on for $399 with a 49 renewal (no personal training). Thats 499 each for 3 years and beats the pants off the cost deal imo. PM me for additional details. |
