Newegg has the GIGABYTE GV-NX88T256HV1 GeForce 8800 GT 256MB for $69.99 after a rebate of $30 plus $6.99 shipping.

This is the 256MB NOT the 512MB model.

Pretty darn hot for the price. Even at 256MB, it is one of the better cards on the market.

the 256MB is okay... good price though. this was what a 8600GT used to sell for

And this blows the 8600GT out of the water. It should be able to play every game out there today, provided your CPU is fast enough.

At your indicated settings and from the benches I've seen, I think the 8800GT 256MBer would be quite a bit faster than the 8800GS.

hmmm. I need a new cpu man...i have amd x2 4000+ and i get around 55 fps on any map in css when in a firefight but other than that im over 100 fps...settings are somewhat high ...4x msaa and everything on high except shaders on low.

Source engine doesn't support dual cores so thats pretty gay...i need a new cpu anyways so i can take full advantage of my 8800 gs

I dont think you understnad why 256mb is a deal killer. This card will not run games well on LCDs with high resolution and even 2x AA on due to lack of memory. Overclocking will do nothing.

Yes the lack of memory CRIPPLES this card at higher resolutions.
When OC'd, I've seen benches for the XFX 8800GT 256MBer Alpha Dog Edition which beat a stock clocked 8800GT 512MBer at 1680x1050 (although I believe AA was off and AF was only at 4x). And it seems all the LCDs I've checked out at 22" or less seem to have native resolutions of 1680x1050 or less.

For $77, it's hard to beat.

8800gs>8800gt 256mb. I've seen benchmarks where oc 8800gs is up there with the 512mb 8800gt
