This is a B&W laser - no color. It has a starter toner cartridge (HP 36A toner) 1,000 sheets. Standard HP 36A toner is good for 2,000 prints at 5% coverage.

To answer some of the questions in the thread,
The rebate is from HP, not Office Depot
This printer was listed on sale in today's (Sunday July 6) Office Depot ad.
This is one of the best printer deals there has been this year.


Sometimes there are rebates that say "only valid of bought from X store". Sometimes there are rebates that say "not valid if bought from X store".
This rebate says "not valid if bought from best buy or office max."
Office depot is not office max or best buy. Office Depot is a legitimate seller of HP products.

There has been a lot of commotion about the rebate.

From an SD'er: called HP rebate center this afternoon, a csr with ID# 56484 confirmed with me that OD is a valid retailer of HP and qualified for the rebate. I even mentioned that "there is no this $200 rebate ads on OD's webpage, will that be ok?" She clearly said yes, as long as you purchased from OD not from OM,BB.

I just went into OfficeDepot today and there were signs everywhere reading "Trade in any printer for $40 off any printer." Fine print excluded "discounted and clearance printers." It sounded like it works exactly like ink cartridge trade-ins. Although this is on sale, I'm sure some people will get away with it--it $20 after trade in. I seem to have an abundance of used, very cheap ($25 from wal-mart) HP printers. I think it's worth a shot. Slick Deal of the Year?
