Note: This hard drive uses a single 12mm thick 500GB (most likely Hitachi 5K500) 2.5" SATA Hard Drive. If you are planning to remove the drive and use it inside the laptop, please check that it will be able to accept this drive, as the majority of current laptop drives are 9.5mm thick

is this 2.5" or 3.5"?

so it's 3.5" and you can power it through usb, hmm interesting. but you can get 500gb 3.5" HD for about 60-70 bucks. Now if only i know where to get the same casing as this one for cheap.

The height on it is 12.5mm, not 9.5mm. So make sure your device such as notebook or ps3 will fit.
