Annual fee is $60 from 2nd year onwards compared to $140 from first year you have given. 25K miles is good for a domestic ticket, the extra 5K is not worth the extra money you're paying.

Thanks for your post! I read the fine print, but I don't see anything about expiration, or how long this deal lasts. If it lasts past 8/25/08, I'll be signing up for this after I close on our new house!

There is no expiration to this offer. This has been going on since atleast about 1.5 years, and my guess would be it would continue to go on.

Also one more suggestion, register for a United Mileage plus account (free) on united.com before you register for your card. When you register for the card give the mileage plus account number in the application. So the points (25K bonus) gets credited directly to your mileage plus account. Now to book the free tickets they say you can book any ticket upto $250, but that is not the case. Log into united.com, click on 'redeem miles' on left nav, and book a ticket anywhere in US no matter what the rates are, the ticket would be free. I am Delta skymiles and united mileage plus user, but I think United has the best available award tickets anytime of the year. I booked an award ticket just 1 week before the July 4th weekend for free when other airlines were charging $900 (ONT-ATL-ONT).

Yes. They have all kinds of merchandise including gift cards of many stores. Best deal is when you redeem it for flight, but there also have a big ecommerce store having many kinds of redemption choices.

I agree with other posters that this deal has existed forever, but it's worth noting that for SOME, it's a big deal that this card gets elite-qualifying miles. Like if you're finishing up the year and you're at 45k miles flown, this card will push you over the limit to Premier -> which is worth having for the 100% mileage bump. Or if you're at 90k, and just really want to be 1K next year.

If you can't relate to what I'm saying, this card is not for you...
