Maybe the computer brain trust here may have some suggestions. Looking for a Internal HDD to pump up my PS3 40GB, so I can use it as a HD DVR as well. Wasn't the PS3 supposed to have some kind of accessory available this year for that purpose? If so, I'd probably be looking in the 300+ GB range for the new HDD. I'm on cablevision if that makes any difference.

I've seen a # of HDDs mentioned over the last couple of weeks here: WD green, Seagate, Samsung, Hitachi, etc. Anyone have a good suggestion as to what might be the best choice for my purposes? thanx in advance

The 640GB Western Digital is acoustically superior and will output far less heat. Performance is about the same. I'd sooner go with the WD drive. The AAKS suffix line is superb.

hard to say, it says your computer is already using 2-500 gb drives, so there's a good chance all of the drive bays might be full. you'd have to find out if you have any free bays. other than that, yeah it'd work

SATA II was actually the name of the get-together that spawned the different SATA standards.

But usually when you see it in a spec sheet, it just means that it supports the 3Gbps transfer speed. It is backwards compatible.
