I have this drive in my computer right now. I can't hear it at all. Although turning it into an external drive is a bit of a waste speed wise.

Completely different drive that was... This one is the 16 MB Cache, that one was the 32 MB cache and for $5 more is quite a bit faster. BTW the price on the 32 MB cache actually went up. This isnt a hot deal IMO as the 32 MB one was $5 more.
