NOTE: The original Half Life 2 is not required for these two episodes. They are standalone games, each playable separately. (HL2: Episodes 1 and 2 pick up the storyline immediately following the events of Half Life 2.)

Pretty good. They also have a combo deal for HL2 + the episode pack for ~$15 if you dont have the original. Remember that the orange box also has all this along with team fortress 2 and portal. So there are plenty of options available.

Do i need the 'Original' game to install these episode packs ? Or can i install these and play the game ?

Definitely worth $5 to pick up these two together if you don't already have them. Note that the Orange Box (currently $40 on Steam, special prices are announced intermittently) includes Portal (so worth it), Team Fortress 2, and Half Life 2, HL2: Ep 1, and HL2: Ep 2. |
