An awesome deal!! But to inform the customers who do not keep up with the technology scene:
HD-DVD is a dead technology, meaning most future movies will be in Blu-Ray format.
Output is 1080i, not 1080p like other HD-DVD or Bluray players. However most modern TV's will de-interlace the 1080i to 1080p..
which is why your HDTV cost several hundreds to thousands more - the chip that does this.

It's a great upconverting DVD player and is useful for all those HD-DVD closeouts.

Shouldn't call this Toshiba HD-A3 in the title. It's not, though it is very similar.
Thinking about picking one up. Wish it did not have two HD DVDs I already have... |

I got a HD-A3 from BB and it's great for watching DVD's. The upconversion is really really good. The only downside is there's no USB support for DivX and it takes forever to startup and load a DVD.
I'd skip this unless you really want a HD-DVD player and want to watch HD movies, like the BBC Planet Earth series. If you're only using it for upconversion, I'd get one that supports USB and DivX. |
