Dead: AMD 9950 Black Edition $177 + Free Antec 300 Case + FS

Newegg has the AMD 9950 Blaack Edition [newegg.com] processor for ~~$179~~ $177 (thanks SP33DFR34K). On top of that, as a combo deal, you can pair it with an Antec 300 case [newegg.com] (Regular price $60) for the same price as the processor by itself. This is amd' s top of the line processor. It does not come with a fan. Before the thread crappers come in and say it; Its not as fast as intel quad cores in most areas. This is the best price I have seen this for. It has an msrp of $235. This item has some good combo deals.

Edit: Looks like this deal is Dead. The price of the processor went back up to $179.99 and the combo that included the case is gone. This processor still has some nice combo deals with it though.

Seems like a helluva deal considering the normal asking price of that processor ($230 or better, at least according to PriceGrabber and Amazon).

Is there some AMD price drop looming? Just seems odd that Newegg has this processor selling for $179.99, while PriceGrabber shows a price of $235 for Newegg.

Newegg is the only place that has this price that I can find. I think the 9950 came out in may (don't quote me on that). Most places are still selling it at msrp of $235 or higher.

My concern is, is this price drop for the AMD 9950 just a temporary one to $180, or permanent? If it's the latter, it's not quite as compelling (still good, but not HAWT).

I think a free case makes it "hawt" (even if I do say so myself). That makes the processor $120. Also I did not add live because there are too many msrp deals with live cash back in it already.

Ya, its the new processor. Will need one of the newer boards to run this too. No $50 mobos for this one.
