Not bad, but I'm betting we'll see at least one or two P18x deals on BF for about $50.

It is their top line case, well the current model is P182, but it's about the same.

i actually like the silver color more than black , black has become too common

It looks nice, very spacious inside and fairly quite: don't expect it to be the best case of your life or you'll be disappointed like me.
Installing the power supply inside that stupid cage was an hassle.
Installing the tool-less rails for the optical drive and floppy drive, require a tool (screwdriver).
A loud heatsink/fan (Zalman 9700 at full speed) makes the sound-dampening panels worthless as you can hear it from the top where there is an hole for the 120mm fan.

I suppose you could turn it on it's side, there are no ventilation holes on either side anyway, so there's no issue wrt airflow. However, realize this is a pretty large case, and HEAVY (mostly steel)! It looks quite nice and demure, but the sides are plastic covered steel sheeting, and I'm afraid having it on its side could easily lead to scratches (and ruin the appearance) and/or lead to denting. This just isn't the kind of case *I* would place on it's side, if that's what your HTPC needs calls for.

As far as quiet, yes, my P182 (black/gunmetal) is plenty quite. In its upright position and current config (ASUS P5W DH Deluxe mobo w/ E6850 and stock HSF), it's plenty quite and is used in the upstairs office. I wouldn't have a problem converting it to an HTPC based on its looks and quietness (WAF [wikipedia.org] is quite high). But as mecit alluded to, the top fan *can* lead to noise leakage w/ a high performance HSF (or even a video card, I use a passively cooled video card in my own system), thereby possibly defeating the built-in noise dampening features.

So with the RIGHT components and config, yeah, it can be a nice HTPC.

SP33DFR34K...just wondering.... do you have any info if the P182 gunmetal will be on sale too?? I like the gunmetal.
