Looks good. I think i might have to pull the trigger on this one. 40k:1 contrast, 5ms, 120hz, 42". Only thing comparable is the Philips 42" 120Hz 29k:1 contrast, 2ms at Sams Club for ~1075. I take an LG over a Philips any day of the week.

Probably, 120hz tv's tend to be at least $2-300 more than their 60Hz counterparts. The dynamic contrast is much higher than that of a lot of other LGs also. Keep in mind the 70 series is the premium brand of LG.

OP, I am sorry but i TERRIBLY DISAGREE with you. I have a 52" Sony XBR4 and there is NO WAY this LG thing is better. The fact that it is cheaper does make it appealing, but I can't believe you make it sound like if the SONY 1080P 120hz and this LG were the same price, you would get this.

Done deal, its in the mail. Exactly what I was looking for. a midpriced 42" 120hz lcd, close to a grand.

Just for reference, the s/h isnt bad. It cost me 18 bucks to get it shipped to Chicago. Tax was about 65 bux. All in all, just under 1180 shipped with tax. repped and thumbs up!

Won't let me pick up at the store. Deal breaker. I have already had 1 42" that was scratched and I am not going through the hassel of an exchange. My next TV purchase has to be picked up in store. I may drive there in order to get the same price in store. Are these going to get cheaper than this? $1100 for 1080p 120 Hz is great.

can anyone vouch for the specs on this TV? Specifically, i am concerned about the contrast and the brightness. the contrast of 40,000:1 seems great, but i am a little worried about the 500 cd/m2 brightness. Will this TV be adequate in a medium lit room? Also, does anyone know if this guy has a matte screen or is it one of the extremely glossy ones. No one seems to e able to come up with a happy medium in that arena!

500 cd/m2 (nits) brightness is plenty, i have a monitor with that same figure and its like the sun. I wouldn't worry about it. I think its very standard.

That tv is 10" larger! How can you even say some B.S. like that about "if [they] were the same price"???

I cant vouch for the TV yet, but you can bet that I've dont a lot of homework be4 buying. The way I figured it the 500 cd/m2 is the same as whats on the Samsung ln40a650, one of the highest rated lcds on the market today. If its good enough for that, its good enough for me. Plus one of the cool things about the LG is the light sensor which then automatically adjusts your picture for optimum settings in the environment.

Off topic, but the Samsung 46" 120 Hz LN46a650 is back on sale at Frys for $1500 shipped again. It seems like they run out every 8 hours and the price goes back up to 2200.
