Good price - this device doesn't speed up your connection - it just tells passes your PC the packets it thinks you want first to give you a better surfing experience. Like loading a web page while downloading - it will slow the packets for the download and send you the web page. It just assigns priorities. Could be very useful to someone.

I'll second building your own: ipcop/dd-wrt/tomato can do this, and much better

that being said, this is probably pretty good for voip. If you do torrenting you might want to turn off protocol encryption, QoS doesn't know how to detect it at the application layer unless it's unencrypted. (or you're comcast)

As far as i know, Vonage advertises the V-Portal as an advanced VOIP adapter that does similar to what this Linksys Network Optimizer does with your Network traffic.
Plus it has a pretty cool screen that has a caller id and all the cool stuff like missed calls and a lot of things that your phone would do otherwise. So I don't have to reach to the phone to to access all that stuff.

I have had Vonage now for 3 years. The previous gizmo dies on me 7 months back and i talked Vonage into giving me a new one free and they sent me the V-Portal. I see a definite improvement and very satisfied.
