Free Bluetooth headset if you use MPx220 Cingular and have problems with it...
If you have software version 0.325, 0.342, 0.343, 1.03 or 1.30
Official Cingular info:
The Motorola MPx220 has been found to have voice quality that performs below the Cingular standard. In order to raise the bar in customer satisfaction, MPx220 product in various channels will be sent to Motorola to be flashed to software that improves the audio quality.
The Motorola MPx220 has suffered from some voice quality issues which have inflated the return rate for an otherwise solid handset. Motorola has agreed to take back these handsets from the Distribution Centers and various channels and will setup a website to assist customers who are plagued by these problems. Please read further for specific instructions on what to do in your area.
End users that are experiencing audio quality issues with their MPx220 can be assisted in one of the following two ways until the upgraded software is released with new product. At that time, these programs will cease:
· The end user can keep their device, and register on a dedicated Motorola website: (www.motorola.com/us/MPx220), which will send them an email update once the upgraded product is available. At that point the customer can swap out their handset (XBM) or perform a software upgrade at their convenience using Motorola’s online upgrade tool.
o End users that call into the XBM call center and have the specific complaint of “poor/low audio quality” will receive a Motorola Bluetooth Headset to use while the new software is going through the approval stages. This headset will be provided to the customer as a gift to lessen the inconvenience of their audio troubles. This provisioning occurs via Motorola’s site – listed above.
· As a last resort, if the end user is unwilling to wait for the software release, the end user can exchange their MPx220 (via XBM) for a free Motorola V551. (Please note this is a permanent replacement and the customer will not be able to revert to the MPx220 at a later time. The customer will also be credited for the one year contract price of the MPx220.
Method for Determining Applicable MPx220 Units
There are five MPx220 software variants that are possibly affected. The software versions are listed at the top of this page. To retrieve the software version, please do the following:
