Most Helpful Customer Reviews
Sir CrashALot, October 6, 2008 By Mark Lytle "Alpen IT" (Incline Village) - See all my reviews I have been in IT for over 25 years and have to repair PCs daily. I prefer my customers buy Dell - for obvious reasons. They rushed out and bought this model Gateway as an emergency for a smoked system replacement. Nothing but nothing but trouble - no matter how many updates, BIOS flashing, RAM replacing, Windows fresh installs I do - this thing crashes. I just put Vista back on it (had installed XP when new)and Blue Screens with the same errors pointing to memory - big time. This is what happens when you spend less for poorly engineered - cheap components - computers. And go to Gateways 'wonderfully' organized website and look up warranty? 'Warranty information unavailable'..... Spend a little more - get something that works - get Dell. Comment | Permalink | Was this review helpful to you? (Report this) Be advised-no suppport from Gateway, August 26, 2008 By Avraham Sonenthal - See all my reviews We bought a Gateway and Windows got hosed for some reason. We called 1-800-GATEWAY for support. Guess what? If you buy a Gateway anywhere but their website you must call a separate toll number. WTF!? Then we needed to restore it but the restore partition was bad. Had to get the recovery disk. They charged me $20 for a $1 CD-R. Then it wouldn't work, and they wanted to charge me to tell me how to use it. Again WTF? These people are horrible. Save yourself a lot of trouble and get a Mac. Get HP. Get an abacus. Anything but a Gateway. |

Are you kidding me
[QUOTE=frostydeeps;13627561]I have been in IT for over 25 years and have to repair PCs daily. I prefer my customers buy Dell - You must work for dell than. Dell suck. I've had 2 laptops and 2 desk tops. they all are junked now. Mind you all problems started with the 1st year, then when I call they want me to open up my laptop (as we know those are tiny tiny holes to get your screw driver in). My job isn't to fix PC let a lone a small delicated laptop. Dell sucks. And when you call the customer service line its in India! Your lucky if you can get someone that speaks english that you can understand. And all of there names are Jo, Lucy, ann, or shawn. Yeah! I would buy an acer before I buy a dell.

Review are reviews. They are not facts. Its just what 1 guy's experience is. Personally I really couldn't care what brand desktop it is. The hardware inside is all the same. Just need to check the mobo manufacuter and the PSU maker. as for software, some people need to grab a "Computer for Dummies" book. and these specs are definitly messed up. I'm guess buy.con is doing it on purpose. |

I called their customer support line and will clarify a couple things for you guys. It DOES NOT come with the monitor however it IS the quad core processor. Still a good deal without the monitor and I am very tempted to get it.
