This should take you from wherever you are to having igo8 running...
(1) Download the Zip file (2) Unpack it to a blank SD card (Your SD card should have Igo8, pnd19, and ~task_to_do.tag in the root (3) Inside the PND19 folder there are two bin files, one is NK.bin, the other is NK(CE 5.0).bin (A) if you want it to boot straight to igo 8 then delete NK(CE 5.0).bin (B) If you want it to boot to CE 5.0 where you can start igo8 then delete NK.bin and rename NK(CE 5.0).bin to NK.bin (4) Once you have done either A or B, there should be just one *.bin file in the PND19 folder (5) Reset the device with the SD card in it (6) It will go through update. If you choose (B) to boot to CE 5.0, click on the icon in the lower left of the screen when CE 5.0 loads. this will start igo 8 (the first time you do it it will install it... after that it will start igo 8) (6.1) IF you have problems getting it to update. Turn it off. slide over the lock switch (bottom left of unit) to the left. Hold down the On/Off button while you slide the hold button to the right (keep holding the On/Off button) tap the screen when you see the countdown. You can now release the On/Off button. Tap SDMMC. It should now update. (7) You now have igo 8.3.1.56007 running (8) go to torrentz.com (or any torrent site) and search for "igo usa" there should be a torrent called "nav.n.go.igo.v8.3.1.onlyusamaps" those maps are completely compatible. (9) Download that torrent (10) once downloaded, copy the folders inside the root folder (maps, dems, pois...) from the download and paste them into the content folder in igo 8 on the sd card. DO NOT overwrite any of the files on the SD card, let it add files where it wants, but dont replace any of the existing files of the same name.... (11) You should now have igo 8 running with maps (12) I suggest downloading the DIMKA skin, it makes igo 8 way better (tons of really cool features) good luck, i have done this several times and it works every time so just follow it and it should work.. Hopefully the 20+ hours ive spent working on this thing saves you some times, and thanks to everyone who helped me, by no means did I figure this out on my own... Quote from skubasteevo : If you are using iGo and want to increase the volume of the TTS voicesm you can modify the command.csv file for the voices to add a \volume=100 parameter. So "Continue straight on %streetname . %then" would become "\volume=100 Continue straight on %streetname . %then"Premodified files downloaded here [rapidshare.com]. (Source [ppcwarez.org] |

Quote : I received and played with the unit for some time. Overall its GREAT!!! Especially for the money! Starts up and catches GPS signal fast even inside our building! Calculates trips and re-routes quickly. Lets you plan the trip through multiple points. All USA maps are already loaded in the unit. Using menu's is not complected, just takes a little time getting used to. The screen is big and bright with different modes for day/night driving. Volume is good. FM transmitter works fine (just pick FM frequency with lowest background noise if you are in heavily populated area), it lets you play music through your car audio system with the map on the screen and then when the turn comes up it lowers music volume, tells you to turn and then turns the volume back up to normal. I also encoded a few music videos (used program called "super") - worked great, have to play with encoding settings to get good quality/file size ratio. Tried connecting phone via bluetooth and calling some restaurant's from the POI data base - worked great. POI data base while not very big still has many businesses in my area. Tried routing - it picked the route my other GPS picked for my way to work and actually picked a better route for some other locations. If we could update POI data base (the current is not bad at all though) this would be a no-brainer feature packed brand name GPS unit for under $100!!! |

@AlpineMan
For TMC, I did try HyperGPS. It did not start in WinCE. It is a Windows Mobile program. |

Amigo works in the Nokia Shell. I put the content in a separate folder so I can run different versions of iGo and Amigo without duplicate maps. Make sure you copy the lang .gro files to content/lang for Amigo. This my Amigo sys.txt:
[folders] app="/SDMMC/MobileNavigator" content="/SDMMC/iGo8Maps/content" [debug] catch_all_keys=0 |

rickgtx,
I installed Navigon 7.4.2 alongwith maps for 2009 Q2. I have an issue with GPS Signal cannot find... I changed the settings too and yet there is an issue. Change Settings\UserSettings.default: <GPS> <Type>0</Type> <GPSPort>2</GPSPort> <Baudrate>9600</Baudrate> <DRVPrefix /> </GPS> Optional: CacheConfig.xml <ImageCacheConfig> <Resolution>480x272</Resolution> <MemorySize>64</MemorySize> <CacheSize>1572864</CacheSize> <ReplacementFree>2</ReplacementFree> <ReplacementUsed>3</ReplacementUsed> </ImageCacheConfig> Optional: Settings\ApplicationSettings.xml <CoreCacheSizeKB>12000</CoreCacheSizeKB> <MapDrawerCacheSizeKB>5000</MapDrawerCacheSizeKB> Please help. Also, where can I find LANDMARKS files for 2009 Q3? Thanks. |

Sometimes Navgon takes a lo-ong time to get a GPS signal. I start iGo, get a signal then start Navigon. It is quicker. As far as Landmarks, it is still not working for the later maps. I have hope, but one poster in PCWAREZ said he hasn't had landmarks in any of the 7.4+ versions :-(

rickgtx,
I have a new problem after selecting "Start Navigating..." Could not calculate route (472). Changes to the route profile might solve the problem. Tap on 'option' > 'Route Profile' and select the following: -moterways, Ferries, Toll Roads: ALLOW. -Speed Profile: CAR Something missing. |

@pokymon
I had problem it never finishing calculating the route until I did the cache fixes. It is still takes longer that iGo or TomTom. Now that the new iGo maps route better and I can use later iGo versions, I rarely use Navigon. [gps] default_latitude=48.857004 default_longitude=2.294760 |

rickgtx,
Did you try new Navigon 7.4.3? I tried it last night after selecting the destination, Navigon shows Map few seconds and goes back to desktop. Sometimes it gets stuck in computing the route. |
