I did the same thing and kept parameters the same except the memory card-
s5150t seriesupgrade $680*
  • intel core 2Quad Q8300 2.5GH
  • 8GB DDR3 640kb
  • 512MB NVIDIA GeForce G210 [DVI, HDMI, VGA adapter]
  • Blu-ray player
  • Wireless-G
  • 6-in-1 memory card

p6180t series upgrades $653*
  • intel core 2Quad Q8300 2.5GH
  • 8GB DDR3 640GB 7200 rpm
  • 512MB NVIDIA GeForce G210 [DVI, HDMI, VGA]
  • Blu-ray player
  • Wireless-G
  • 15-in-1 memory card
* Price is with EPP discount and taking off for CB 25% in both models

The price is higher in the s5150t from my research. But if you are wanting a smaller design for say use in a den then you may want to look at the dimensions.
As far as the components the difference is the memory card from the Front Productivity Ports. The s5150t did not allow for a 15-1 upgrade when I was configuring for comparison.

I have been trying to make a decision on a purchase myself, so trying to learn a bit about computers. That is why I have the comparison :) But I am still learning and can't comment on how or if that memory card reader will make a huge difference???
But maybe the comparison will at least help you decide or will make it for others to base their opinion or how they compare.

thx Sbelle...i almost ordered the gateway(from JR) last night, as i was not sure of the epp program+BCB. however, i did received an email from HP/EPP, so i think it is ok. for EPP=BCB. i do like the slim design, hence, looking at the 5150t. but, it appeared the largest discount is till with the 6180t, and that is why i think the 6180t is making hugh splash
