Next best price from a reputable seller on Google shopping is $1147 (but no free Blu-ray player).

The blu-ray player is not really free if you are having to pay approx. an extra $150 to get it. It's really like you are only saving $50 (or less) on the player.

I agree, but when you consider that the next lowest price without the bluray player from a reputable dealer is the same as Vanns price with it, it's not too shabby.

I agree, I wasn't trying to knock your deal. I was just saying unless you want that specific blu-ray player (or one very similar), I would go with the cheaper price and no player. Blu-ray players are finally starting to get into the $100 price range, I picked up a Samsung BD-P1500 on cleance at my local Wal-Mart for $100 just last week.

And, if you click to get a better price, they are both within one penny. 999.97 for the 550, 999.98 for the 560. Of course, those prices are sans bluray.

the b560 (and higher models) are supposed to support 24p output, with what samsung calls "cinema smooth," but last i checked a month or so ago it was still broken and had glitches. cnet reported elevated black levels when cinema smooth was engaged. others reported noise in the picture when they viewed up close and cinema smooth was engaged. some have claimed to find some kind of work around to get it working properly, but it's a bit of a hassle each time.

unless it was very recently, as i haven't checked in several weeks, as far as i am aware samsung has never issued a firmware fix for this glitch.

one other notable difference between the b550 and the step-up models b560/b650/b850/b860 is they come with the "crystal full hd" engine. so the b560 also should have better processing than the b550.

the ultra filterbright on the b650 is far better than the weak filter on the b450/b550/b560's. it is worth the extra benji or so to get the b650, which also adds internet widgets and dlna streaming, and i think the b650 has PIP too. not quite sure if the b550/b560 have PIP, but i don't recall that they do.

What kind of prices do you think these 50" plasmas will go down to on black friday? I'm tempted to pick one up now just to save the hassle of inventory being out.

I think this is lowest I've seen for the 560 without a bundle. Definately a Slickdeal!

For this TV or other 50" plasma's? $560 is pretty slick but I'm not about to price match, wait for Bing cash back and sign up for a Sears card.
