I got lucky and saw the retail reduction sheet. I don't work in the store, but I may as well since I am there all the time buying stuff for my jobs.

I double checked the items getting marked down in the store and they are the regular combo kits that the store stocks all the time. I am not sure why a SKU would be different online.

Most of the deals are the best I have ever seen - A front page slickdeal on the on the compact dewalt drill only was $99 in the past, the cheapest dewalt combo will be on sale for that and includes 2 batteries and the impact driver!

Makes me wonder if that might be a closeout item? For some reason I remember HD clearing out non-XRP DeWalt stuff, this might be one of those things.

If you are looking for it dont forget to check overhead storage....things like to go up there and get forgotten about.

There are 4 SKU's that are not online (table saw, both 2pc DeWalt combo kits, 12" sliding Milwaukee miter saw). These are items unavailable on HD online, so even if you search for the items by name they don't show up. However, I looked for each item in the store found them all and double checked the SKUs. All had several available except for the Ridgid combo kit and table saw which were uniques at the store I was at. Again, I double checked and all are live SKUs at brick and mortar HDs.

Checking overhead stock for tools is always a great idea, also good to check above the contractor or special services desk as they sometimes have some overstock on display there.

Should be able to buy some lowes coupons on ebay or get them in the movers packet from the post office. That would be an extra 10% off the prices.

Most HD's will no longer honor Lowe's printed coupons :mad:. I'll be at HD Tuesday morning for the Rigid LiOn set though :).

Wow nice deal on that Ridgid combo! The lifetime warranty on tools and the Li-Ion batteries sealed the deal for me. Keep in mind you will have to register your set on-line and you can do it online. I got in on the this deal for $169 and I installed blinds for my whole house and built an entertainment center from scratch and I must say, Ridgid tools are the best I have used. Wish I would have caught this deal for $149 but since I had my wife's to-do-list to do, I can't complain over $20. The Ridgid impact driver is worth $149 alone IMHO. It is very powerful and compact and overall is very well designed. If you are a home user, the Ryobi is a good choice as well.

In my case there was 5 service centers within 100 miles and the closest 10 miles. They seem to use a network of independent service centers. At least you don't have to mail it to China.

If this is for real, this is amazing (and very personally coincidental)! To be honest, I'm rather skeptical that the sliding miter is $300 as it was just marked down a few weeks ago to $550 from $650. I've been drooling over this unit as its one of the top of the line consumer-level saws...even has the digital read out for miter angles. Regardless, I believe I'll be making a pit-stop tomorrow morning....

What are you talking about? They do still accept the coupons. Their policy has not changed. I used at least 5 just in December.

Supposedly many stores quit accepting the web coupons and its a YMMV. I've yet to hear that they quit accepting the hard copy coupons like the ones that come in the USPS mover's pack thing though.

I've never had a problem geting HD to honor a Lowes 10% moving coupon from the Post Office moving package.

Definitely a manger discretion thing. One of my local HDs says they will accept it, but really only depending on how much I would save by using it (although they've never given me hard and fast numbers)

Another local HD has no problem taking it. In fact it sounds like I could just ask for the 10% off and they would do it (which is basically how every Lowes Ive ever been to works)

Clearance markdowns at HD are not technically a "SALE", and they do vary by district. When they start closing out items they reduce them steadily until they are gone. I have been watching the Ridgid table saw for some time as one of my stores has the same 4 units they have had for a year, no shocker that they are reduced. 50% first reductions on power tools are rare but not unheard of. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I agree, REALLY need a new set of tools and this is good for me. Just hope there are some instock!

The saw is actually discontinued as well, so they really might be trying to clear it out. Coupled with the fact it probably didnt sell that well (considering most stores never had a formal display of it, and a lot of stores dont even seem to know that it exists), and a 299 price may very well be possible. Its already down to 499 which is at least 100 off the original price (cant remember if it was 599 list or 649). Its a darn good saw for the money, even at 499....299 Id almost start to consider buying one for spare parts. They might even end up lower than that, because of stores having no clue they exist/where they are in the store.

Just got off phone with customer care at Home Depot and this is totally bogus according to them. It is possible that a specific store may have these markdown, but according to them its highly unlikely to be at all stores or even more than one, So don,t hold your breath.

Get a 10% coupon for lowes by signing up at lowesmoving.com and use it at homedepot.

It's a HUGE YMMV from what I can tell. I have been to THREE, yes THREE HD to check stock, no one has the Dewalt 6 or 4 pack kits.

This saw did have a recall for broken arbors early in production. Anyone buying one needs to check the recall and see if your store has one subject to the recall.

Went to HD in Lancaster CA this morning. Guy in tools looked up the DeWalt 6 tool combo on computer. Shows todays price at something llike $489, but then says "New Price" of $299. He says that means the $299 price is in the system and will soon take effect. They had 3 in stock. I picked one up and will go back tomorrow for a price adjustment.

Went to HD at lunch. They had lowered the price on the 6 tool combo set and the other 2 were gone. Did the price adjustment and ended up paying the $299. Nice. They still had one Milwaukee 12 inch sliding miter in the box and one floor model. Too bad last week I bought a Hitachi 10 inch sliding miter for much more. Thanks OP.

for 299$. The normal price is 600$, not 500$ and last year, they had a 25% off which got it down to 450$ which was a steal.

If it is does discount to 299$, Holy crap, that is one of the best saws for half off the original price. Go grab it.

The saw is discontinued, 499 is now the current price.

Could very well be they are starting to lower the price to clear it out. 499 to 299 is a huge drop, but I suppose its possible.

Well, I just got back from my local Home Depot in Ohio and the OP is 100% correct. Not only that, they already are selling them for the prices shown. Don't have to wait until tomorrow.

I did pick up the Dewalt 18v hammerdrill/ impact combo set for about $140 out the door. (I think I got the last one of that. They had plenty of the other items though and the display was getting a lot of attention from shoppers. I believe they will get cleared out quickly.

I was also able to use the Lowes 10% coupon on top of the discount already shown.

I did NOT go around and take pictures of all of the items the OP listed. I looking for the 18volt kit and found it. I would not be surprised if they had everything the OP listed.

Okay I can confirm the deal. I went to HD at lunch, and the Victor, NY location does not have all of the items on the list. They we're dragging all of the stuff they have to the front of the store for clearance. I asked if they could hold for me and they sure I would just need to fill out a merchandise pick-up (Tell them you drove your smart car and it won't fit inside so you'll have to come back with your other car) SO I have in front of me a merchandise pickup sheet for the following:

I stood with the store guy who happened to have the markdown sheet in his hand when he walked up and said "Can I help you find anything?" (First time I was ever asked that in a HD!). I said "yup", and we went over the prices.

He said there we're 64 items on sale in the tool department.

He said All the 18V dewalt stuff is on sale (not neccessarly 50%, but on sale), it looks like anything in the old style dewalt packaging is 50%. Lot's of Ryobi, and Ridgid I'm not sure what I didn't want any of that stuff.

But the other good things on sale were Ridgid Generators, the 7000 was $499 from $750(I think) and the 5000 $299 from $600.

So check your HD in the morning, all the stuff will probably be out front, most of the stuff was there in my HD.

That's because store employees bought them all up already and they will price adjust 01/12/10.

Oh my god, if that table saw is going to be $300, I'm going to be there tomorrow morning at open and buying it. My ~40 year old saw just died last month.

I would go there right now if possible, If they have any, they will be gone by tomorrow morning without any doubt.

It's actually because those are some of the most stolen products in the store (in terms of dollars besides copper product).

You can see some of the 4 and 6 packs on the floor in one of the pics I posted.

The 4 and 6 packs are getting clearanced out because Dewalt has new 4/6 pack combos under different UPCs, Part #s, and SKUs as part of their new line of XRP equipment.

I can confirm the deal is live at the El Cerrito, CA (East Bay, SF Bay Area) Home Depot location. Just got back from picking up the TEK4 combo.

I saw the Ryobi TEK4 combo, the Ryobi 4pc Li/Ion combo and the Milwaukee 12" CSMS. That's just what I saw.

If I hadn't just just bought a Hitachi 10" CMS, I would have given the Milwaukee serious consideration.

Confirmed for me too. I got the last miter saw. The HD employee said they were 549 and that he checked this morning. He knew about the sale. I took it to the counter to pay and it comae up 299. Employees are going to buy this stuff up so if youw ait until tomorrow it may be too late.

Went to my local HD this morning. The sale is also started early. The tool manager said the word got out early so he just started to sale. I picked up the Milwaukee miter saw for $299 and the manager threw in a new blade for a penny because the saw was the floor model.

Bingo!! Just went to the Mira Mesa one here at San Diego and picked up the Dewault XRP 4 tool combo kit for $199. last one on the shelf, there was one of the 6-tool kits left but it had an open box. Saw another guy with a 6-tool kit on his cart. It was pretty low key there, no balloons or anything, just the tools on the isle end shelves. No signage beckoning anyone there or anything.

First rule of Slickdeals... DO NOT CALL THE STORE, esp. when we're talking about limited-supply items such as this. Everybody in the world likes good deals, including store employees. In a large store such as Home Depot, usually only the managers know about deep discounts ahead of time. When you call, you clue-in all the store employees and they can and do buy things out before you even get there. Store employees have even been known to tell you, "there is no deal," or "I know nothing about it," even when the deal is showing up right in front of them... so they can pick-up the limited-availability item for themselves.

If one can't be bothered to go there in person to check inventory in-person ("oh, I got better things to do with my time", "oh, I work" and other self-centered dumbass comments... don't you think anybody else worked or had to go out of their way to go to a store???), then don't call and f*ck things up for everyone else.

Just checked the Rocky Mount NC store. Tool manager pretty much confirmed the Milwaukee drill/radio was going to be "green tagged". Could not start the deal because the manager had gone for the day. Rang up 149, bought it (1 of 2) and I will return for an adjustment on Tuesday.

I think some stores started today, but for the stores that aren't folks are buying them today to price adjust tomorrow. Technically the sale hasn't started yet.

I picked up two of the four tool DeWalt XRP combos for $199 ea in Porter, TX this afternoon. They also had 5000 Watt Husky Generator on sale for $299.99 from the original $699. The Model # is HU5000S. It is marked as a seasonal item, so it might only be in the Gulf Coast. I don't think it's worth starting a whole new thread over since it is probably regional and part of the clearance.

Stopped at the Watertown MA store, nothin at all. Not much inventory at that store anyways.

Scoured the Waltham store and scored one DeWalt DCK450 marked $500 for for $200. Even had the sale price showing on the shelf. Nothing else there.

I bought most of the Dewalt kits (drill/driver and hammer drill/driver - the 4 and 6 piece were gone). 1 store already had them marked down, the other was in the process and marked stuff down for me. There is Dewalt 249-809 compact drill that I got for $69.99. I Also was able to use an internet printed Lowes coupon with no questions asked. I bought 4 of the RyobiTek 5 piece kits too, just for the noise cancelling headphones. Spent a lot but I save a lot - Thank you/Damn you SD.

I have that same jigsaw and paid less than $100 for it. Works OK, but the baseplate won't stay on. It's a plastic snap on thingie. Blades are the expensive type.

Detroit area in Michigan is flat out of the 6pc and 4pc DeWalts. I grabbed two 2pc kits for the batteries and chargers. Awesome deal if you are lucky enough to catch it tonight.

Frederick, Md South store didn't have any of the combo kits. I did pick up the Ridgid 4 1/2" angle grinder clearanced from $99 down to $39- 10% was $37.10 out the door. They also had the Milwaukee angle grinder clearanced from $79 down to $39. They did have the Dewalt 18v compact drill for $69.

OP's timing totally kicks ass. Been shopping for a kit for the last couple weeks, even had my 10% lowe's coupon ready in waiting. I would give an uber rep if possible.

Stopped by the HD (Taylor, MI) on the way home and picked up a $299 6pc Dewalt 18v XRP kit (has a hammer drill) and a $79 Dewalt 18v non-XRP drill kit. So I got a light drill and a hammer drill, two chargers, and four batteries (2 non-XRP). They took the 10% Lowe's coupon no prob, so 350 ish after tax. Other dude bought the only other 6pc kit. Tool guy said that was all they had but it seems odd to me that they'd only have two.

The tool section dude remembered me from coming in to check things out a week ago. Would have preferred li-ion but the Dewalt premium is too high right now, can upgrade those later when the nicads die.

Taylor MI store had 1 four pc Dewalt kit left (199), a bunch of the DW XRP hammerdrill/driver combos (149), XRP DW drill/sawzall combos (149), and the non XRP drill/2 batt combos (79) left. Also saw two of the Milwalkee mitre saws being heavily eyeballed by other shoppers.

I did not see the 149 ridgid kit and I can't remember about the Ryobi's. Chances at getting the smaller kit DW stuff is still pretty good though, I think.

I have to assume this is now live in Metro Detroit.

Also just a FYI, the 6pc DW kits are ebaying around $400. Not really worth the hassle, though I'd be fibbing if I said I hadn't considered it.

Bought the last 682-342 $99 dewalt in the atlantic home depot in long beach. They still had ton of the $149 hammer drills and the 4 & 6 piece kits.

Went over to the cherry one to see if I could get another for a friend, but no dice. They also had a couple XRP $149 and one 4 and 6 piece avail.

There were 2 radio kits left and at lease 1 Miter saw left (I thought I saw another on a top shelf). Did not see any Dewalt kits but I was not looking for any either.

Anyone have any luck in Houston? I just checked a store in Katy (Fry and 99). Some stuff was marked down a little, but a couple of items were marked even higher than the "was" price. For example:

Ryobi 4pc LI combo kit sku 916-062 was $269 -- My store shows it as $299 currently
Milwaukee 12" compound sliding miter saw - sku 397-698 -- was $549 -- My store shows it as $649 currently.

Many of these sale items were still available at the Home Depot north of Pgh on Camp Horne Rd. when I checked around 5 this evening. They had several of the Ryobi Tek4 kits for $49 and at least one each of the Dewalt 4 pc and 6 pc kits. Not many Ridgid tools left except for the orbital jigsaw and 12 volt rt angle driver. The only Milwaukee 12" scms that was left was the floor model. Nice find OP !

~9am-1pm today mon, 1/11, I went to home depot stores in santa clara (lafayette), east palo alto, san jose (de anza) and milpitas ==> confirmed prices on the dewalts. I too was skeptical in the santa clara store until a sales guy "accidentally" showed a printed page with the $199 4 piece dewalt. when i asked - do you have in stock? he said "no." when does sale start? "i don't know. can't tell you." I then went to EPA and they had already posted the new prices. the 6 piece dewalt was OOS at all the stores so I bought a display model. didn't have the $149 hammer drill/impact driver except for a open/badly used box sigh....

one guy said they are changing to Li Ion hence the closeout.

Going to check a second HD shortly. No idea WHY they are doing this, but it looks like we're all gonna make a killing one way or another (I dont even want this stuff to Ebay/CL, I just actually want the tools)

Also note, earlier today I got a glimpse of the list the tool guys were going off of, and there are a TON of things on it....it was 1 full page and a few lines on a second page. They had crossed off all the stuff they didnt have in stock, but there was still plenty of stuff left to be moved into the sale area.

6 Tool Combo kit - SKU 888-537 - Was $629/ NOW $299

Just picked up the Milwaukee 12" slide in the Atlanta area for $550 (less 10% Lowe's) and was told that I have 30 days to price adjust. I've been after a deal on this exact model for a couple of weeks. Obviously going to keep checking back and will certainly lobby to have the 10% applied at the adjusted price....but I have another Lowe's just in case. I went to two stores and neither knew anything about it happening so I just grabbed one as I anticipate a SD effect, especially since a previous post heard Atlanta starts on 1/16....figured there'd be no stock left by then...I hope that they honor the adjustment policy!!!

While I havent confirmed the new price, I did confirm its ready for some price reduction tomorrow. One of my stores had 1 left on the sale shelf.

Im not sure about the rhyme or reason to the DeWalt stuff.......I notice some of it seem to have "fresher" packaging than others (more black on the box than yellow), but even the "new" stuff seems to be ready for clearancing. Maybe they're going li-ion only? No idea.

And, for the price, Id go with the Ridgid 4 pc kit, just for the lifetime battery warranty.

If they don't just save your receipt and then return the item, then re purchase at lower price.

That is what my clerk at Home Depot said today when I asked about the future sale. He said he can just price adjust.

Yeah, good call....either way, HD is usually pretty good about taking care of folks....worst case is I go to the store across from the corporate office and start making a scene! ;)

just got back from the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor MI store- they had 3 of the dewalt 6pc and 4 of the rigid 4 piece (on the overhead shelf). They didn't seem to be aware of any pending reductions so i grabbed the dewalt 6pc and will go back for either a return or a price adjust tomorrow. I didn't look for any of the other items other than the rigid table saw, which they did not appear to have.

I picked up the Ridgid 4 tool set floor model at the HD on Costco Dr. in Tucson for $100. They didn't have any others. The guy at the HD on Irvington checked and there were a few stores around Tucson that still had them.

just got back from two different HD stores in my area, so this is only relevant to San Diego, CA people, but both stores denied me. Someone else posted that the sale was on in Mira Mesa (in San Diego county) and I asked them to call that store. They said the Mira Mesa HD told them the sale was only on "display" items, not new in box. (WTF????) anyway, they seemed clueless about the sale/clearance prices mentioned in this thread. The two HD I went to were the Eastlake and the Plaza Court (in Chula Vista) stores.

I may check it out again tomorrow, or try a different HD.

From what Ive seen, they can check the computer and actually see when a new price might be coming. I mentioned a few of the items to customer service at one of my local stores, they thought the prices were outrageous then they looked in the computer..."hmm, you're right, they start tomorrow".

If you're thinking about going tomorrow to home depot and get one of the deals, check your local home depot TODAY, because the HD around me already went live with the prices, just got back from HD, was going to buy today and return/rebuy tomorrow to ensure I got the set I wanted.

When I went today, the prices were reduced already. Picked up the Dewalt 4pc combo $199 (3 left) Gift for my dad and the Milwaukee Saw $299 (2 left) for me plus also saw a few of the other Dewalt/Ryobi sets listed. Thinking about picking up a 2nd Milwaukee saw and selling on craiglist to drop my initial cost even more, supposely original price was $699 then dropped to $550 now $299.

If there is a HD close by, make the effort to check today, because people we looking and picking up the sets today at the same time. A guy picked up the dewalt 4pc also when took mine.

I would love the $299 miter saw, but The Woman would kill me. I saw the 6 pc DeWalt set (store had two in stock), but I would have no use for a 1/4 inch impact or a multi-tool (I already have one). I could resell, but I already had the two 4 pc sets. I'm selling one to help cover the cost of the one I want to keep for myself.

The drill and radio combo just didn't seem like a good enough deal to me. The DeWalt Drill/Driver combo was cheap enough, especially considering the cost of the batteries, but I wasn't tool sure on resale value. Plus, the one I saw was not the XRP model.

I'm not sure if they told me right at my store, but they told me that the return period is 90 days and the price adjust is period is 30....expecting that we'll not have to worry either way!

I scored the monster Ridgid 10" granite topped table saw!

They had:

* Numerous 4 and 5 piece Ryobi sets
* a couple of the Dewalt impact/drill combos
* Milwaukee angle grinders

They did not have (and I specifically asked about):

* Milwaukee miter saw
* Ridgid 4 peice set (someone was there buying the last one)
* Ridgid 10" granite top table saw (because I bought the only one!)

Then....ill just return it I guess...

The Rigid 10" table saw was still available in Rockland, but no sign of discount pricing cards, and just a little too heavy to drag to a price scanner! Also plenty of $299 generators.

I've contacted multiple stores in the SLC market and no one seems to have the sale in place or know of an upcoming sale... But if you want either the $199.99 and $299.99 Dewalt kits they were at the lower price but everything else was at a higher price.

Will be hitting the Rockwall, TX store first thing in the morning. If nothing is there, I will be going to the Mesquite, TX store.

Got the Dewalt 4pcs kit at a far north side Chicago HD after mulling over it for over an hour & not getting any answers to whether there will be special sale on these items. So ended up paying $380+tax hoping the sale is nationwide which seems to be the case & then getting an adjustment. Forgot to apply the Lowes coupon, but oh well that should make any adjustments easier. This better not require me bringing the item in because it was a bitch to take home on a bike(carfree) with no trailer. :lmao:

Also saw a Ridgid set on the top shelves, but decide against it because the Dewalt reciprocating saw seems better & rather have a circular saw too.

I picked up a 6 piece combo today in Coon Rapids MN. Last set. There were 11 this morning. I called several west metro stores and any that were on sale are gone. I think a couple stores had the 6 piece kit at a small discount but not the clearance yet.

I had to check three Home Depots, and the second one, in South Overland Park, KS did not have their sale prices out and had no idea about it. I was telling the salesman about it and they thought I was trying to scam them and were a bit rude, so I called Leavenworth and bought one over the phone. Great deal!

Ive heard both 30 days and 90 days for price adjustment, from different people at the same store.

But, either way it seems we'll be covered. Almost looks like they are doing a little "spring cleaning" for some of the slower moving tools (although I cant see DeWalt kits being slow moving........I suppose its possible).

Also interesting is that, about this time 3 years ago, I picked up a Ridgid kit on clearance for ridiculous pricing. Makes you wonder if they do this yearly?

Just got a Dewalt drill/driver combo. Almost the last one in the western NY area. One more of the combos at the clarence, ny HD. Forget about the rigid 4 pc set. There are none in the entire area.

I drove to 3 different Home Depots before I ran into the regional DeWalt rep who just happened to be at the third one. He knew all about the $299 sale on the 6 piece which is what I was looking for. They were out there, but he looked up the area and gave me 3 stores. I went to the closest one and it was still ringing up as $498 and they didn't know anything about the $299 sale. After wasting time trying to inform them about the sale I gave up and bought it. I then went back to the first store with the DeWalt rep still there and got the price adjusted to $299. The rep was really helpful. He confirmed that it is a national sale and that the reason for the clearance prices is because they are planning to introduce some more reasonably priced combo packs that may do better in the current economy. That's just what he told me so we'll see. Good luck, everyone.

Great find, saw the deal posted last night, even contemplated stopping by to check todays stock. I didn't only to come home and see it was live @ most locations.

Lot of stock in Onalaska WI, I picked up a few things i needed at a price unbeatable. What bothered me was seeing an employee fill up a cart with all X amount of remaining dewalt drill & x2 battery kits for some shoeclown to flip who called in to buy up everything. Craigslist will be littered with these for the next few weeks for sure.

Li-Ion is preferred. Dewalt stuff is NiCad, some of the other bundles were Li-Ion.

the Li-ion are better but suck badly when its cold out, mine would barely work last winter when it was 10 degrees out for like 2 months. Ni-cad work much better when its really cold.


What stores had the free impact driver with the 4pc kit? Did any of them have the drill impact kits in-stock, all i need is the impact drill combo my current set is shot.

I stuck the 4 pc dewalt set up on craigslist for $340. I think they should sell for that.

Alll the DeWalts on sale are NiCads. That said, NiCads are not necessarily bad or evil if you charge them as discharge them properly. They certainly don't explode in your pocket like LiON/POs do. They also are very good at discharging at a fast rate, which is great for high torque tools. Yes LiON is the new cool buzz word with cordless tools. If there is a big price premium for LiON over NiCads, I personally would choose the NiCads over the LiONs. LiONs don't have memory effect (or as easily as NiCads), but I find they don't last as long as NiCads properly maintain.

I had to run an errand and well... I stopped by the HD on North Ave. by I-90 (Chicago) they close at midnight. No go for the Ridgid 4pc kit, 1 in stock guy said "it's probably the floor model and u don't want that, let me check the rest of the stores near us" 1 store showed 3 in stock I saw the screen monitor.

The DeWalt 4pc kit was a no go either, same thing guy check stock an 0 nada, so he says "looks like your best bet is that store, they have 4 in stock, you should just get them tomorrow before they run out of stock", I politely smiled and said yup you're right, I did saw the Ryobi kit for $199, but I rather have the other two, I also noticed the 5-pc Tek 4 was already on sale on the clearance section and they were ready to mark other thing up. I did get 5pks of light bulbs for $1.85 each so not too bad of a trip. I'll make my way to the other HD since it's on my way to work. :-)

also, they had a BUNCH (15-20) of the DeWalts for $69 the 970K i think, can remember.

I can only speak for San Diego.
One of the local HD managers told me the deal is not going to happen until this Thursday.
I would highly recommend get the tool(s) you want and then have HD do the price adjustment on Thursday. Earlier, I picked up a 12" Milwaukee miter saw at the regular price and I will have HD do the price adjustment this Thursday. This way I have the tool I wanted.

Great analogy. I do agree with you, there's no need to boast. But you have to understand that some people here, me included, sometimes depend on these money making deals for sustenance, or at the very least, some much needed supplemental income. I made the unfortunate decision 15 years ago to become a skilled tradesman in the now, almost completely defunct Michigan manufacturing industry. For the past 9 years I've been struggling. Struggling to stay working, struggling to pay the bills, struggling to feed my family, struggling to keep my house...etc. It's been a really rough ride, a ride in which unfortunately, there's no apparant relief in the near future.

I realize, and understand the disdain held by most deal seeking SD'ers against Reselling Ebayer's. But please have a little understanding for those of us that are in a bad place right now. I mean seriously... Unfortunately, this seems like a some what YMMV depending on if the store has gotten the information about marking down the prices of these tools. The two stores I visited in south San Diego were a no go yesterday. I may try a 3rd store or check them out again on 1/12. Someone claimed one store in north San Diego had this deal, but when called, they said the sale prices were only for display units and missing blade (on the saw), not new in box. I don't know if that was really true, but that's what I was told.

I've pretty much read most of this and I have the same questions. From what I gather this is supposedly a 'National Clearance' event however; all the posts I see are in CA, where apparently some stores started it Monday and are now out of stock for the most part. Many people are buying online to do a RR in-store (Although if this is a Sale instead of a Clearance they will have to do the RR before the sale ends which is not currently known.

Should I even bother going into the store early this morning to check it out? I'd hate to waste an hour of my time for nothing.

Unless there's an advertisement out with these prices (which I don't think is true), there is no pricematching guarantee at Lowes. YMMV I guess, you may get someone to do it at a Lowes somewhere. I don't see why they would if they use their brains, because they'd obviously be losing money.

you don't necessarily need an "advertisement" for them to price match. usually, what they will do is contact the competitor store, ask if the item is in stock and how much. If it is, and the price is lower than Lowe's price, they will price match *and* -10%. I just did this for a Dewalt miter saw stand last week. so, the key thing is to call the competitor's store and verify the price and make sure the item is in stock, then run to Lowe's and hand them the store's number and tell them its cheaper at their competitor's store.

Consider this is a Home Depot clearance and is selling out quick (or so it seems), you would have to catch a store that had it in stock when the Lowe's guy calls them.

First of all, that wold violate the "do not call" rule. Secondly, I just don't see how any manager is going to give you, for instance, something that retails at $629 for $269. Maybe if you live out in the sticks you can fast talk them, but where I live, store managers do things like carefully analyze the numbers on IP coupons. They are almost certainly going to deny the pricematch because it's a clearance item, if they have any kind of brain (then again...). It's not part of the pricematch guarantee, so why would they lose money on it?

Just got back from HD. The generac GP5500 is still showing $499 in their systems. I was at one store and talked to associates at 2 other stores, none of the stores showed a $299 price yet and they were very confused.

The manager did however override the price for me on the three that I bought! No one was sure what was going on, if the price was actually gonna lower or what was happening.

So let me get this straight, you just went there, told them the price is supposed to be $299, and they adjusted it to that?....

Some stores have not updated their electronic pricing yet.

If you scan your item and it doesn't show sale, the tools department employee needs to download the new price for the skus and 'accept' them into the system. Then, they can scan correctly and print out new pricing tags.

This might take a few hours for a store that isn't aware of the demand.

Other stores sold out yesterday, as they started early.

One store near me sold out early yesterday, as they started early.
Another store hadn't even started this morning and thought the 'official' start date was 1/16 but was willing to start today.

So, worth a shot to talk with store manager or department manager.

REMBER: Be nice and calm, but consistent in your intent to purchase items. You won't get far being rude :)

Went to two different stores in Savannah, GA this morning at 6am and 6:45am.

4pc kit and 4pc kit with free impact driver were marked down to $389. I pick up one of each and plan on stopping by after work each day this week to see if they mark the prices down to $199.

I picked up one of each because they had different model numbers. The one with the impact driver had an "I" at the end. Not sure if they will only mark down one and not the other.

I managed to snag a 6 piece Dewalt set at 6am this morning at the HD on OBT by Sand Lake road in Orlando. There was another guy in the store with me I think looking for all the stuff but they were pretty much wiped.

As yesterday (When I got the Miter saw and the Radio) I used the 10% Lowes coupon with no issues, so the price was $269.10 + tax.

I have no need for the Dewalt set (Got in on the Milwaukee deal back in June), bought it as a gift for my stepdad.

All stores around me opened at 6am, not sure if any open at 7am. I have called a few stores and MOST of the stores are already sold out or have them on hold for others. I got 3, NOT to resell them like some, 1 for me, 2 for friends.

If you are still looking for one, Cincinnati Colerain has like 4 or 5 in stock.

Yeah, strange. Most stores open at 6AM but few listed 7AM on google. I wonder if it is ones that are in Malls and have to go by Mall hours...

I hit the 6AM store and found I was the only customer - nothing like Black Friday, but much better deals :)

Picking up 4 pc dewalt, 2 4pc ridgid sets, and milwaukee radio/drill. Resisting the urge to get the Milwaukee compound saw and granite top saws. Might return later after non buyers remorse.

did anyone not see a sale price on the dewalt 4 tool kit? it scanned at $369 (or something close) this morning.. two questions.

1) some other people on the post are saying it may be reflected on thursday? should I just buy it now and wait to price match?

2) which 4 piece tool kit is it, another person mentioned there are 2, one comes with another tool for free, I saw both kits at my store
