same here

Lukeman 02-01-2010 09:26 AM

Shows $329 for me, with free shipping (even free Next Day). Obviously overpriced at $867, but for $329 its a good deal.

scottee 02-01-2010 09:26 AM

Is this only available when you purchase it on your cell phone? I can see that I can pull it up on the PC here with the link, but it's the mobile version of the site. Can't modify this with the deal?

RussellJohnson 02-01-2010 09:28 AM

direct link to the deal at dell.com.....

http://configure.us.dell.com/dell...=1&vw=list

or copy n paste...

Code:

http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cid=52259&dgc=MT&l=en&lid=1345275&oc=fndfza3&prod=fndfza3&s=dhs&fb=1&vw=list
listed as a fasttrack system, so that would include free express shipping (you have to select it during checkout, though, otherwise it defaults to ground) and no lead-time as they're already built and ready to go. order it today, you should have it tomorrow (provided it's not a dreaded dell screw-up-to-be-cancelled)... 15 month mcafee and office home & student (note oem license is ONE user, not three as in retail box license).

if this is a dell price mistake... this one they might actually ship... just to get rid of them. :D

no free upgrade to win7.. according to http://win7.dell.com/ ...

The registration and order period for the Dell Windows® 7 Option upgrade program has ended.

$46 will get you a dell-branded win7 home premium 64bit upgrade kit (i.e. what was the 'free' upgrade) off fleabay

vista-schmista, i'd still use it... if i had $350 to spend right now... better than the vista laptop clearance deals i've seen locally in stores.

wsm 02-01-2010 09:35 AM

Well, it uses your Dell stored account info. Looks like a price mistake for their special mobile site. N41

Edit: Got order confirmation from Dell for $329 plus tax. Link back to their order confirmation site shows same. Snooze=lose.

Useable.net is used for many large companies when they want to have a mobi site. The MBTA, which is public transportation uses Useable.net for their schedules and fares. It is legit.

Adorada 02-01-2010 09:57 AM

Well, if you search for "fast track" on Dell's official site, it will bring you to this area:

http://www.dell.com/content/topic...l=en&s=dhs

So, it just looks like they are clearing all the Windows Vista systems out.

what do you all think? can you see anywhere to get the 3% with existing accounts?

Not too excited about the Vista but this is still a great deal if you're looking for a cheap laptop. The extra $20 for the bigger drive and more ram is a no brainer in my book.

honestabe 02-01-2010 10:22 AM

This system is listed as $529 so I would say yes to price mistake
regular fast track price [dell.com]

Also the one for $20 more does not include office.

A few firmware issues (it took me forever to fix a bug that causes the Function key to randomly click on/off) but not a bad laptop for $500 at the time.

regular fast track price [dell.com]

Also the one for $20 more does not include office.

It's not the same, that link includes Win 7.

$20 more for 1 GB HD and 70 GB but a slower processer.....Wouldnt it be better to go with the T4300 for $20 less? And maybe ugprade the ram yourself?

BTW, that model is now gone. it has been switched to $399.

The cheapest one available is $349 but it has 4GB Ram and 320GB HDD

the $349 one you're looking at doesn't have office.. to get that ram and hdd + office, it's the $399 one.

Where do you even see the option the tweak the specs on the lappy itself? All I see are options for crap accessories.

Why do that...Dell probably will cancel both...IF NOT then craigslist the one you dont want...its an easy 100 or MORE

Dealguy135 02-01-2010 10:45 AM

Anyone know if this is Windows 7 upgradeable?

mrm16 02-01-2010 10:45 AM

I got this laptop for $299 shipped from Amazon last year. the day Amazon was into price match war w/ Walmart.

Anyway, the laptop I got is for 4 GB ram whereas this is one is 3 GB. everything else is the same. It is a good entry level laptop for browsing, e-mails, limited gaming. only thing I don't like is the glossy finish. man, it attracts finger prints like hell !!

I would recommed this laptop @ this price if someone needs a good entry level laptop. the T4300 processor is quite good, 7-in-card reader is helpful, integrated webcam, etc.,

cons - no bluetooth, no hdmi, wireless only b/g and no n.

if it is anywhere priced more than $400, NO. but for this price go for it if you are looking for one

viejo1221 02-01-2010 10:46 AM

I built it on Dell's regular site and came to $693 without Tax and Shipping. That's with Windows 7, so deduct that and you're looking at about $600 notebook for $329, and lesser ones are over 500 on eBay. Sounds good to me...

MissyMooMoo 02-01-2010 10:47 AM

especially considering this post, it doesn't look like a price mistake. the bestbuy laptop was an i5 with bluray for $499. maybe Dell wants to get rid of some older stock- $329 seems reasonable to me for a downgrade to DVD-R and a dual core...

ALL companies have just as worst customer service and sub par products. Good luck to those who want to download drivers for their Thinkpad (site unresponsive). You can't really go wrong with dell as their components are all standard intel, connexant, broadcom, nvidia, samsung etc.

BTW, can you post a video of you eating glass while watching sisterhood of the traveling pants that would be pretty slick to watch on the new dell lol.

Nah... Not always. I've actually had pretty good luck with their customer service over the years, and their products obviously aren't gonna be up to par with something such as maybe Apple, but for the price, I'd say quality is just fine. Anytime I've had a warranty issue, it's usually been taken care of without much hassle and pretty quickly.

It's all gonna depend on the rep you get and stuff. And again, not sure what kind of quality you are expecting, but their products have been pretty solid for me and the family and friends I know that own Dells.

yes, I got it from Amazon after their fiasco in pulling out the deal in less than 2 seconds. But one e-mail to them about how I disappointed I was and boom they honored the price for $299 :)

ray4jc 02-01-2010 11:03 AM

i still think if anybody cares about a warranty that the $399 that includes office, more hd, more ram and 2 years warranty and not one isn't a horrible deal...if you were going to get the 2 year warranty anyway

I'm curious as well. Why is the slower 2.0Ghz rank higher than the 2.1Ghz?

Gir_Ka_Sher 02-01-2010 11:06 AM

Yes I did.

Gir_Ka_Sher 02-01-2010 11:08 AM

bigballs 02-01-2010 11:09 AM

In for 3. You really can't beat this deal on price. No bing though so I had to ebate the order.

feeth 02-01-2010 11:09 AM

I ordered 3 of the $329 models. Did the next day shipping that was free, after I hit submit it charged me $200 or so for shipping. WTH!

That's not really what they meant, they were just referring solely to how the processor on each system is ranked. It seems the lesser model is ranked higher in performance according to the link.

These rankings, like all others, conceal whatever process was used to obtain them, of course. I assume that they're based on valid tests that have some application to how computers are actually used by consumers, but I don't know that.

I don't know a heck of a lot about these but the frequency is just one aspect of the overall performance of a processor; if it's an inherently faster processor then it may outperform an otherwise lower-tier processor operating at a higher frequency.

Go with the more ram and HD space. You will not notice a 5% decrease in preccesor speed. All other specs are the same

No, the question has to do with why the t4200 in the $349 model is a faster processor than the t4300 in the $329 model according to a processor ranking linked in a prior post.

Crustan 02-01-2010 11:13 AM

I can't believe that Dell is still selling laptops with Vista! I would bite on this one, but once I factor in the time and money to get Win 7 on there, it's just not worth it.

fersaltiel 02-01-2010 11:13 AM

In for 1! Thanks OP!!! Hoping to make some cash off of this one, need some for Valentine's Day lol

3GB version. The CL is full of cheapskates who won't care about the extra RAM. Plus, you can vaunt the MS Office which is not in the 4GB version.

tamilgirl07 02-01-2010 11:13 AM

The $349 says no office installed, so the $329 is better with office??

resellers...
True, we can't get this sorta deal from dell or distributors. Newegg has better deals on small scale (and usually large scale orders) then my distributors. No windows 7 kills this for me and I'm not big on SD to Ebay things.

ProtocolOH 02-01-2010 11:14 AM

Bleh, no Windows 7, no thanks.

cgigate 02-01-2010 11:14 AM

don't want to buy from Dell for tax.
waiting deal from Amazon or newegg

hooha23 02-01-2010 11:15 AM

not that this isnt a good deal, but seeing how popular this thread is really makes me feel better about the gateway deal yesterday.

thx op!

vickwally 02-01-2010 11:16 AM

Got one. Thanks!

Deal is still in-stock although now next-day shipping is NOT free. 2nd-Day shipping is still free.

xenodude 02-01-2010 11:16 AM

no more free next day shipping, double check your shipping charges!

the difference in performance is negligible so the real comparison Office and $20 or 4GB RAM and 320GB HD. Personally, the $329 is a better deal because the 1GB more RAM is also negligible and hard drive space is no longer an issue.
