Nikon SB 600 Flash 174.98 + tax - Target B & M ( YMMV)

1 Attachment(s)
Nikon SB 600 has been moved to clearance section in the Target .

I got one last night and the receipt scan is attached.

Not a great price but better and hopefully they reduce it further very soon.

It's a very valid rumor too; it's a nearly 6 year old flash.

That said, just because it's old & being replaced doesn't make it any less capable - one of the better value flashes, especially for the Nikon system, available imho.

JFalc 04-09-2010 01:58 PM

My wife has the D40.

Only after I bought her this flash, did she start liking the D40. She now says it is one of the best purchases I have ever given her.

This flash will make your D40 be able to take rapid-fire shots.

Very good purchase indeed.

dealworld 04-09-2010 02:17 PM

Not at all slick price.... But good to keep eye on the prices.....

Its available around $200-$220 everywhere else. And there are always 10-20% coupons on top of that......

I'll add this into my "Keep Watching" list.

We have 9,5% tax here in the Seattle area. We make a list of high ticket items and take a run down to Oregon which has no sales tax.;)

I'll pay you 9.5% sales tax, please take away the rain.

What do you call two straight days of rain in Seattle? A weekend.

It only rains twice a year in Seattle: August through April and May through July.

What does daylight-saving time mean in Seattle? An extra hour of rain.

What's the definition of a Seattle optimist? A guy with a sun visor on his rain hat.

How to predict weather in Seattle: If you can see Mt Rainier, it's going to rain. If not, it already is.

A newcomer to Seattle arrives on a rainy day. He gets up the next day and it's raining. It also rains the day after that, and the day after that. He goes out to lunch and sees a young kid and asks out of despair, "Hey kid, does it ever stop raining around here?" The kid says, "How do I know? I'm only 6."

Do very many tagets even stock the SB-600?

raysacr 04-09-2010 02:52 PM

Actually this is a pretty good price for New. Used ones on ebay are around 200 shipped.

LiveFreeorDie 04-09-2010 03:13 PM

Great price for a great flash...but as with all clearance deals this is a big time YMMV.

dylokjai 04-09-2010 03:20 PM

is this at every target or only certain areas?

htowniman 04-09-2010 03:26 PM

It is good deal for SB600 already for normal user who doesn't want to spend $ for SB-900. Great for indoor shoot. Just let the flash bounce off the wall or ceilling. I team up mine to my D70. I got that from Walmart 20% last X'mas. I paid 8.25% as well.

Certain ones, as usual. I tried the DPCI in the inventory checker and none of the stores around me carry it. Definitely YMMV.

R4e 04-09-2010 03:52 PM

do you have a link the DPCI inventory checker?

I also remember hearing this rumor right before i bought my sb600, 2 1/2 years ago. Maybe a replacement is finally coming out?

Much appreciated:) Can you advise why the DPCI is different than OP's receipt? OP's receipt 056100487 vs Invetory locator DPCI: 241-01-4303?

I have one of those lists too...it's called my Amazon shopping cart. ;)

Which ironically, is based up there, right? So you guys can't take advantage of it.

In any case...this is a good deal. I don't shoot Nikon, otherwise I'd hit up the Targets

R4e 04-09-2010 05:24 PM

Good luck finding it........none in southern cali

DUDE, Fry's suck; don't get me started.... It is funny because 3 neighbors and I just (like 5 minutes ago) spoke about how bad Fry's is. Don't wish for something that is extremely terrible...

Very TRUE, look at the SB 800. GREAT flash and got replaced by the 900, now the 800 sells more used than it did new since the 900 hasn't not been accept by the community. Wonder if I have box a gross of the 600 hoping for the same mistake again?

What I am going to say is going to sound offensive bear with me for a second.

buy this book

Nikon D40 for dummies (Julie Adair King)

Not a joke. This book increased my enjoyment of my D40 by leaps and bounds. I now know all the functions of my camera and when to use it. I look at my camera now and think.. wow.. there really ARENT that many buttons on it.

The book is fantastic.

I was in market looking for used SB600. I must tell you, on an average the used ones sell around this price!

If this is for your own use and if it satisfies your needs (if you are lucky to find one at your local Target) I would say go for it. Does not really matter if it is going to get discontinued in few months. I've seen many of other long discontinued Nikon stuff that still sell at pretty descent price on ebay.

916 04-09-2010 10:16 PM

anyone here selling their sony flash?

leoniv 04-11-2010 09:39 AM

eh, the sb-600 unit here in the atlanta, ga area is only marked down to $209.99. not a sd at all, i'll pass.

RETRO99 04-12-2010 08:46 AM

great flash..good price..i own 2..just as good as 800

Artemk 04-12-2010 09:16 AM

Both DPCI numbers from this thread (056-10-0487 and 241-01-4303)come up "invalid item" in Louisville, KY Targets... :(

TROGDOR!! 04-12-2010 06:36 PM

Good price. I have a SB-600 paired with my D200. Great flash. I paid near full price for it; worth every dime. A second one would be nice, but no Targets in my area stock this. Using it off-camera with Nikon's CLS system is awesome. I'd love to throw another flash or two into that mix.

washburn12 04-12-2010 06:56 PM

hmm, my dad just purchased this at best buy for 241.xx. i'll tell him to check target though, thanks for the heads up!

nvm, just used the inventory checker, no stores carry it in socal!

JackBarlow 05-09-2010 05:12 PM

f.y.i. I was looking for an SB800 or 600 so I checked here first, and saw this thread. Went to a local target just to be safe and picked up an SB600 for $87.54 here in Va Beach.

Hilltop store and it was the only one. I asked because I could use a couple more at that price. I drove to the other two stores in VB and struck out.

phillypino215 05-10-2010 10:30 AM

great flash. its hard to even get the flash used for that price...
