If your not a die-hard fan game is pretty bad. Constant break aways with cut scenes reminding you how horribly annoying the characters are was a game breaker for me. Have no intention of ever picking this game back up.

Well rated games rarely drop to $19.99 until a year or so later. With good sales and store coupons, $30 is usually the lowest for the first year.

For those who said the game is bad, linear or boring, they have to get to at least Chapter 10 before all the characters and skills open up. The game gets really fun from then on. By Chapter 11, the side quests take as long or longer than the entire main quest combined.

The thing about gamers today are like movie audience that want immediate exciting actions right from get go. Not many want to spend the time to get to the good part. We are all spoiled to must have what we want immediately then having to work for it.

Well yea... wouldn't you? If i pay for a game with my hard earned money which sole purpose is to provide me enjoyment, wouldn't you want instant gratification? I want a game that's suppose to keep me entertained throughout the whole game not just half of the game. I don't want to feel like I have to work for my enjoyment. I have a gf for that. I got this on release-day as well, and I'm only on Chapter 4. :( People are right.. the game is quite linear and has a lot of buildup which not be for those who aren't patient.

I haven't played it in the past 3-4 weeks to be honest.

I use to be a FF nut too.. I think it's just me growing up :( I tend to play online games much more now as they provide the competitiveness and unpredictability that I continue to seek.

haha, know what you mean. For me, it's even worse, i'm almost starting to drop video games all together (as a teen, i told myself, i'll keep playing when i grow up). Before, when i got home/dorm after class, i was excited to play games, but now going home after work, this is the last thing on my mine. Then, i get on SD, see great deals on games and tell myself "oh boy, this is going to end up in my queue of games to play, which hasn't moved since at least 6 months. The excitement of getting a game is there, but the time is not. Probably the only video game purchase i'll make this year is g27(yeah, missed that great deal last month :( ) and gt5 (if it ever come out).

No kidding. I expected a drop, but not by this much. I could have saved a ton, especially since I have a gift card I could have used on this instead of something stupid like food or clothes.

anyways, the game was pretty good, finished it in 1 week. its more like a movie that you have to work for the ending. n with that, linearity issue that people seems to be bothered the most is pretty much assumed. I really liked the ending, it is worth playing for.

If it ever comes out? Try putting in something that makes more sense like Duke Nukem Forever. GT is too big a franchise for it not to come out

The game really actually starts to get interesting only at about Chapter 11 or so
I think this is one of those games that are better played with some help (game guide), since it is very technical.

Which platform is it better on, PS3 or 360? I'm leaning towards PS3. I started to play a friend's copy on my 360, but gave it back.

i dont like the fact that the 360 ver. of the final fantasy 13 in-game cut-scenes are pre-recorded videos and not actually system rendered and the high compression rate of those videos makes a lot of pixelation.

Google it. Hundreds of people have already answered your question, including game magazines like Game Informer.

About half of the cutscenes in FF XIII are done in realtime engine. Only the pre-rendered cutscenes have better quality on PS3 version.

If you have both PS3 and X360, PS3 version is the obvious choice. But if you only have a X360, the game itself is still as good. Since the main story quests are about 60 hours long + 50-70 hours of side quests, you don't really need to switch the DVD discs that often. To be realistic, you probably would have switched to other games disc more times during the progress of playing though FF XIII.

One thing I don't understand is why is it so difficult having to switch the disc 2 times over the game? Why I say switch the disc twice is both PS3 and X360 versions need to put in the disc to start the game.

Come on AMZN, pricematch this deal since I don't feel paying tax.

Reps to that commnet. With working full time, going to school, having a house to take care of, I tend to get on the ps3 maybe 4 hours a week. I still havent finished MGS4 or FFXIII and all I want to do is pick up some Warhawk because its quick and easy!

Same here! I have like 10 brand new sealed games for the PS3, but all I ever play is Warhawk when I have the time. That game is a drug.

He has a case of "mods-making-me-look-stupid-by-merging-repost-threads" syndrome....

It doesn't does get high ratings only a 7/10 at Ebgames, 160+ reviews. Thing is, you play for 4 hours & only 30 minutes of action in that time according to one guy. I love my FF games but need some action to stay awake.

Kmart is having really good deals on games lately. Seems like they want back into a market they failed miserably at years ago.

I agree! Play the demo and didn't find it fun at all. The character you control looks like a short fat turd running around like a fool. If I want to play hash/slash game, I will stick with DMC 4, Bayonetta, or Dante's inferno. At least they are good to look at.

Yea I got the same problem. I need to stop buying games in the hopes of playing them later on, as that never works out. I still have a sealed copy of Infamous that I never even tried out, and now that game became a greatest hits game and is only worth $30 now. I find myself more interested in games that are not too long, like Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, AC2, Batman, so I guess rpgs would be a waste for me now. For my multiplayer games I usually enjoy playing the same game for a long time once I get the hang of it, its too much effort learning from scratch over and over again. I only play 3 games online, MW2, uncharted 2, and Killzone 2.

I found bayonetta way more enjoyable than darksiders. I'd give darksiders a 5/10. I'd give dante's inferno, god of war 3 more credit.

If you go to Kmart.com --> Music, Movies & Gaming --> PlayStation 3 --> PlayStation 3 games and then click on the QUICK VIEW of FFXIII, it'll say 29.99 after deducting applicable additional savings. It's not in stock and you can't add it to your cart but at least it says the price.

Great deal, I paid $60 + tax for this game. this game is fun, long, and gets progressively harder.
expect to log in a lot of hours and a lot of headaches playing this game. if you have a strategy guide, you will do a lot better, because i missed a lot of missions and side missions with out the guide. have fun and enjoy.

NC has alot of xbox 360 FFXIII and Bayonetta look like more than 10 of each and ps3 had 3 ffXIII and 1 bayonetta i got them..i did not look at any other games that was on sale so dont know how many they have

the sticker still says 59.99. they have to scan it for it to come up as 29.99 in the system. do you honestly expect any kmart employees answering the phone to actually:
1. waddle to the electronics counter
2. get the keys
3. waddle to the case
4. unlock the case
5. realize they unlocked the wrong side of the case
6. unlock the correct side
7. grab the game
8. waddle halfway back to the counter when they realize they forgot to lock the case
9. log into the register for the first time since they don't actually sell anything
10. figure out how to do a price check

i am really tempted to buy FFXIII.......i bought (or rented) from gamestop for the 7 days they allow...and i really enjoyed it. i put in around 10-15 hours in the 7 days and really enjoyed it....i kept wanting to re-buy ff7, but didnt want to go back tothe old school graphics...so this was fun....but i am not very good at it...and it can be frustrating - though enjoyable. if only i didnt have an addiction to BFBC2 - cause if i got this, i would stop playing that till i beat it.

Uncalled for jab at Kmart employees, as a whole...with the "waddle" statements. My mother-in-law has been an employee for over 20 years and is one of the nicest people you could ever meet...which should come as a pretty resounding endorsement since she is my mother-in-law. ;) She is a member of the management team and since she is salaried, she is overworked and grossly underpaid...and since she stands and walks all day at the store, she isn't overweight and doesn't "waddle."

i had good luck in the past for price matching at bestbuy .. they usually just look at the printed ad of competitor or screenshot of the website with the price shown and they match it without question.. I will try it though tonight with the copy of the pdf from kmart website which was shared earlier on this post and see if it works.. i will keep you guys posted on this

Bayonetta is NOT a button masher. You may survive if you button mash, but it's not like DW where that's all you do to live. The bosses will destroy you and on harder settings, most enemies will as well.

The $10 off $20 coupon worked but I doubt it will work much. As I was convincing the cust service cashier to take the coupon, I noticed a very large sign facing the customers that there was a "$10 off $20 coupon with an unauthorized circulation that could not be accepted"

The coupon also did not work when she scanned it. She had to do something different to make it work. I gotta be honest, I felt bad because she's probably going to get in trouble later.

Atleast I bought it for $44 last month instead of $60+ at release. Still a fun game but good thing I didn't get on the hype train. I learned the series won't go back to the SNES and PSX days.

Try price matching at Best Buy or Fry's. Pretty sure they match online competitors' prices.

$30 is a great price on the game.

For those who complain about the cut scenes in FF XIII, you can always pause and hit the select button to skip any cut scene (or hit select during the animation for the eidolon summons to skip that as well). A good feature if you don't care much for them.

Chapters 1-10 were fairly linear, and the game doesn't get hard until they open up the entire paradigm system. At that point, you really do need to learn the combat mechanics and be fast on shifts to survive fights from ch 10 onward at normal combat speed.

I'm still playing to try to get the treasure hunter trophy so it's a bit of a grindfest for gil, but I've enjoyed the game a lot more than I thought I would based on the early reviews from Japan.

But I tried the 360 link and it worked for me
