Got a $5.00 gift card in the mail today from Publix. It was to thank me for my inquiry on their website for the Publix Calendar. They are sorry that it is no longer available (ha-ha) and wanted me to have the gift card in lieu of the calendar. Funny thing is they sent me a calendar.

Good for you!! I got the $5.00 gift card.... but no calendar!! Still, a nice gesture for them to send the gc! I do adore Publix!:heart::heart:

It was NOT in the Ledger (Lakeland,FL) for the past 2 weeks. I just sent an inquiry to News America regarding it. Maybe the more people that contact them would help?

I'm planning on calling the Herald tomorrow and I told the Publix manager as well. Told the Publix manager that I'm not buying the Herald for anything but the coupons and the coupons ought to be there and it's 2 weeks in a row and that honestly Publix is being ripped off as well.

I actually blamed last week on the delivery driver snagging the Smart Sources for the BOGO pet food coupon. Once I crossed into a different route, I found all the inserts, and you could actually figure out the route by which stores had them.

Yesterday went to my Publix and again no SS insert. Decided on a different Publix after the lightbulb went off after the fact last week and I found the Heralds with ALL of the inserts. So 2 weeks in a row and the delivery driver/stuffer is not inserting the SS.

At least you can check the Heralds though. I just bought the Sentinel and it's missing the Red Plum.

Now it's making me wonder if the newspapers are trying to short change Vlassis and Smart Source by not printing enough inserts. I'll definitely contact Smart Source as well, that's a good idea.

Just so you know -- the drivers don't stuff the inserts for the Herald -- the inserts are bundled together with the travel section wrapped around them -- here in Miami they are all done by Goodwill workers and the drivers have to pick them up from the Goodwill warehouse and then place the entire bundle into the papers that they pick up from the Herald. There's a second set of inserts that gets bundled with the Parade magazine -- that set is bundled at the Herald warehouse. That one doesn't usually have coupon inserts, but about a month ago, just for one Sunday, they split them up between the two bundles.

The drivers don't get stacks of coupon inserts -- so if all the SS or RP are missing in a route either: 1) the driver(s) removed them all 2) they were never there in the first place because the people bundling them didn't put them in.

I'm thinking that we have taken all the gc's (which would explain why the website isn't working). There was a limited amount of 5,000 (or was is it 1,000??? - old age is rough) available. Just relax & hang on and grab the next one - deals come all the time and you'll hear about them here first!

PLEASE do send that name pm to me.. and do you know when they work!!!. Thankkkks and mind you this was just two weeks ago...

I talked to Megan and she even brought the Q back to the office to get higher up approval. She always works on Thursday eves. She initialed the coupon so the register clerk wouldn't have a problem. It turned out I had too many coupons in my order so it required manager override, and Allyson (great cashier) called over one of the guys "Cole" who had override privileges and he entered it as a competitor even though I told him it would scan.

I got your covered (hopefully)!
In the area where Publix stores doubles MQs:
1) the value of an MQ eligible for doubling is equal or less than $.50
- e.g. an MQ of $.35/1 or $.50/2 will be doubled to $.70/1 and $1.00/2, respectively
- The suckie coupons are those for $.55/1 because they can't be doubled.
- It now appears that so Publix stores are doing the "double suppressed" function. If a coupon states "DND," from time to time, people report that their MQs do not get doubled at the register system.
- If an item value is $.60 and you have a coupon of $.50/1 (which doesn't say "DND"), in theory, you can get an overage of $.40 with your MQ doubled to $1.00. However, I have had cashier who will suppressed the doubling and manually enter $.60/1 for the coupon value. So, the item will be free, instead of a mm.

2) BOGO items ring up as 50% and 50% (as opposed to 100% and 0)

3) there are weekly Mystery items (or Penny Items) of Publx products.

:sadwalk: No ad this morning.

I was there at 8 (in the Sleet) and the truck got lost, so I beat the produce truck to the store. Sleet changed over to snow while I patiently waited. They sent Quention (sack boy) to the back to bring them up and he couldn't find them. Sent the grocery manager back too and he couldn't find it either. I was there for over an hour :twiddlingthumbsmiley:

Snowflakes were half dollar and golf ball sized (Beautiful!).

I'm gonna go watch my niece play again this coming weekend, so there won't be an ad from me next monday either.

On another note, I do not see any tear pad of Lays today at the Snack aisle.

Sorry I missed this -- been working and not on SD.

This was set up on a Kashi stand alone stand in the deli area, near the coolers that house the hummus and more expensive cheeses in the Oviedo HS Publix.

The stands are still there at my Publix, but the coupons are not.

For my Kroger and Publix friends - - - Last week when I was clicking all over the Internet, I ran across a coupon book you could sign up for. It was from Save a Lot Grocery Store. I signed up for the book on Thursday and it came in the mail on Saturday. I was shocked - That was fast! Especially in the land of coupon books!! It has some pretty good coupons in it. They are all Manufacturer Coupons for P&G Products and expire March 30, 2010. The book contains:

$.75 off any one Duracell batteries

How much is the Miami Herald on Sunday now ?

I get the Sun Sentinel delivered here in south FL. It was missing the P&G insert. I bought several from those dispensers, and they had a different version of the SmartSource insert, it was missing some premium coupons like the one I really wanted for the $3/1 Schick disposables. Im at a loss as to what to do. :(

My neighbour who gets the Miami Herald delivered was missing all of the P&G coupons as well (for eg., the $4 off Gillette Fusion) :(

Has this been mentioned?
Some publix stores are giving a $10 gift card when you buy a H1N1 shot for $10.
So it's free (if you want the shot).

If it's the shot and not the live nasal spray, I might actually do it.

qqueen 02-08-2010 08:44 AM

All I can say about the Ft. Lauderdale area and inserts is that they are and have been always screwy.

The El Sentinels get a different insert than the following day Sun Sentinel. The freebie Jewish Journal or Condo Highrise also differ like the Eastsider.
I never know what inserts I'll get nor what will be in them which is why I can never promise anyone coupons until I have them in hand.
Even the PG differs from the Herald and SunSentinel.

This is why I am always grateful for my Coupon Fairy who provides me with her extras....
:flowers2: (won't mention her name in case she likes to remain incognito)

I get the Sun Sentinel delivered here in south FL. It was missing the P&G insert. I bought several from those dispensers, and they had a different version of the SmartSource insert, it was missing some premium coupons like the one I really wanted for the $3/1 Schick disposables. Im at a loss as to what to do. :(

My neighbour who gets the Miami Herald delivered was missing all of the P&G coupons as well (for eg., the $4 off Gillette Fusion) :(

If you buy the Sunday edition of the Herald on SATURDAY, it's only 50 cents.

The El Sentinels get a different insert than the following day Sun Sentinel. The freebie Jewish Journal or Condo Highrise also differ like the Eastsider.

Wait wait - so are you saying that there are free newspapers in SoFla that have coupon inserts in them??

Pardon my newbieness - I've only been in SoFla for less than 2 months - but I'd love some more info on this! I understand that the inserts may not be the same or as good as the ones in non-free papers - but would still love to know how/where to find free papers with any inserts at all - TIA! :)

The Florida Today had NO P&G insert either. ARGH!

Wow, what is up with the newspapers lately? I think I've gotten lucky because my Orlando Sentinel had all of the inserts (which I buy at Publix).

Yeah, I went up to Publix and sifted through their papers and their was no SS to be found yesterday in the Orlando Sentinel (I am in Brevard cty). They were in the Florida Today but usually the SS in the FT is not as good as the one in the OS.

I am not in South Florida but a friend of mine is in Orlando and she subscribes to the El Sentinel just to get free inserts. The El Sentinel is free and is put out on Saturday. So since you are in South Florida, you just need to subscribe. I tried to subscribe but they don't deliver that paper where I live.

No Need to Roam the Neighborhood Flyer

I found a single-page, double-sided flyer titled "No Need to Roam the Neighborhood" last week. The flyer has the following 8 pet Pubilx store coupons valid from 2/10/2010 - 2/24/2010. Yup, I found it last week (2/4/2010) before the PQs are valid.

$3.50 off Purina Beneful Dog Food (15.5 or 31.1 lb bag)
$2.50 off Purina Cat or Kitten Chow (3- to 16-lb bag)
$2.50 off 24 cans of Fancy Feast or Friskies Cat Food
$3.00 off Purina One Dog or Cat Food (3.5- to 34-lb bag)
Buy One Get One Free Pedigree Dry Dog Food (15 lb or larger) or Pedigree Plus Canned Dog Food (13.2-oz can)
Buy One Get One Free Cesar Canine Cuisine Treats (6.7-oz pouch) or Cesar Canine Cuisine Bistro (3.5-oz can)
$1.50 off 2 or more Milk-Bone Dog Biscuits (24- or 26-oz pkg, excluding Milk-Bone Essentials Plus)
$1.50 off Fresh Step Cat Litter (20- or 28-lb pkg)

I don't have any pets and don't really pay attention to deals and prices for pet food. All the PQs are up for grab. PM me if you would like to have them.

There has been a ton of talk in this thread the last 48 hours regarding the coupon inserts and which paper does and does not have them in Florida - - - With that being said, I was just grateful the AJC in Atlanta always has the inserts. However, I found out today that the cost of the double edition on Sunday that used to be $2.50 has now gone up to $3.00. That is a bummer for those of us who buy the double edition strictly for the coupons!

Have you checked the Dollar Tree? The Birmingham News is normally $2 on Sundays, but only a buck at the Dollar Tree...that's where I stock up :) I would imagine stores in ATL would have a similar deal.

Thanks, sunshinesmom! (Thanks much also to qqueen, who PMed me!)

I, uhh, think I misinterpreted this post when I first read it though - and thought maybe I could sign up for the Orlando El Sentinel too, rather than just the SoFla one (which I did a couple hours earlier after qqueen's PM ). Anyway, I just tried to subscribe to the Orlando one with a SoFla address (Broward County), and the web site let it go through? Sunshinesmom, you said that you tried to subscribe but they don't deliver in your area - did the web site refuse your subscription then, or did your subscription request just get ignored, or? I'm starting to doubt that my Orlando subscription will actually work, but it really confuses me that the web site accepted it - thanks for the help!

Looks like Michelle didn't get the ad either (not up on iheartpublix or HCW).

I don't think we've ever had a Monday night without an ad.

ETA: Just called my store and it appears that they were telling the truth this morning about not having an ad, as they still don't have the ads.

Okay, here's my first attempt at match-ups! I am only half-way finished, but will finish up the rest after dinner. If you have any coupons to add me PM me and I'll them in. Thanks to harporrt for typing up the initial listing!

tn_native was gracious enough to help out this evening when I had to stop working on this for a while. She did a tremendous amount of work on the last portion of this, including color and links, but for some reason, when I brought it over, the color and links didn't work. So, I will work on it tomorrow am. And the stuff in the middle.... there are a few coupons in there, but the smartsource demons got to my computer and shut me down in the middle of pasting them in, so I lost those. Ugh. Those, too, will be up tomorrow am. Be patient with me, I'm trying!!! :) I cannot tell you how hard this is, but rewarding because I know how much I've benefited from all the hard work others do on this site. Teamwork has (and will continue to) get us far, fellow Publix-ers!

ETA: tn_native helped me figure out how to get the color and links to work, so I think we're set. I haven't checked the printables yet since I don't have access to one right now. But will check tonight and verify. If you come across one that's not working... or if you find others, please PM and let me know! Thanks!

Do you have a link to subscribe to El Sentinel in Orlando? I found the online edition but can't the page to subscribe.

No, it did let it go through on their website but after 3 months of not getting it and leaving several messages, someone called me back and said they didn't distribute it in my area.

:sadwalk: So...I didn't win the Publix apple recipe contest...not even an honorable mention. I was really looking forward to the $5200 in Publix gift cards.

HERE [publix.com] are the winning recipes

The next contest starts at the end of February and will be "strawberries".

If you can get it in Atlanta, the Athens Banner-Herald is only $1.50 and has all the inserts, if for some reason you can't find the double-edition.

:crying: NO RAGU :crying:

omg, all these coupons, so sad...

ps. this means nearly free cereal and milk

Post Cereal, Assorted Varieties, Selects 13 to 16 oz box or Trail Mix Crunch, 17 oz box, BOGO $4.27

There is a $2 off post cereal at postnatural.com (though I cannot get it to print, always says already done)

Then there is the FREE milk coupon in the flyer WYB 4 Post.

$3.00 off Purina One Dog or Cat Food (3.5- to 34-lb bag)

OMG thanks for the heads up. My kitties thank you.
Purina coupons have become so hard to find for the past month or two.
Now I can combine those with the $1 MQ

I will go to the supersized Publix across town and I bet they will have these.

jdrodgers1013 02-09-2010 05:22 AM

The ad was completed by iheartpublix.com - Thanks Michelle. Thanks to tn_native who braved the snow and made a gallant effort to try and get this for us yesterday!

FINALLY DONE - Wow, I have a whole new appreciation for those who do this week after week. Given that this is my first time of doing the weekly ad, the match-ups, color coding, etc. I very well may have made a few mistakes. The editing in the tiny screen is tough for a new person. Just let me know if I need to change something, add something or if I messed it up! Tuesday 12:15pm

WOW, thanks for the names of other free papers that carry coupon inserts.
So I gather Jewish Journal, Condo Highrise and EastSider all have coupon inserts ? Thanks

Yes, there are a few other versions of this paper too. In Pompano, its called something else....

hold on I think it will say it on my last insert spine....

It usually says it but of course this week, it doesn't.

You can look for the free stands that have the New Times and they have them in there sometimes. Look near big condo communities or community centers. I have found them there too!

There's also a blinkie for the Blue Diamond almond cans for $1.50 off 2 cans. I don't have one in front of me as I used them all at Walgreens when they were bogo there and had RRs to use up. I am positive though that they are not expired and I believe it's possible they might still be available at Publix.

To be honest, I find CVS's own brand of almonds (natural type, nothing added) the most delicious of all canned/bagged almonds (although I haven't had them for about a year), but I am cheap (and proud of it!).

Since the Healthy Choice Fresh Mixers will be $1 each (after Q from Save a lot [e-centive print ;) ]), can I get a taste review of anyone that's tried them? And which ones you'd buy again and which ones you would NOT.

WHY are the Reese's Pieces SO expensive? $3 (and that's ON SALE) for 10.5 oz (my math says that's over $4.50/lb)
Gees! They better be :licklips: ! (My area did not receive the $1/1 MQ from the inserts, either). My hips say thank you for NOT buying!

I much prefer my typing up the ad versus someone else's work, as what size is many of the BOGOs?
Banquet Chicken, Hebrew National, Bob Evans and Frosted Flakes don't show a size.
I guess I'll have to look at the online ad to see.

Spydermonkey511 02-09-2010 10:18 AM

What is the activation fee for the american express gift card?

harporrt 02-09-2010 10:39 AM

No, in my area, $0.50 mQ's are doubles, making the coupon worth $1

I love the HC Mixers. I get the pasta with marinara sauce. DH likes the pasta with meat sauce one. We tried the rice with chicken ones a while back and I didn't think they were as good. Something about the meat didn't sit right with me.

Don't forget the $1.25/2 store coupon that expired on February 5. The stores in Jacksonville accept store q's two weeks past the expiration date so that can be used with the $1/2 manufacturer q making them $.37 each. :whee:

I'm definitely going to watch to see which ones are the best cause I'm stocking up.

Glad to see more and more people helping out on the match-ups in the Publix thread!

I went to Publix on the last day of the freebie Chobani yogurt last week. Most of the flavors were out and had to go to the CS desk for a raincheck. The customer in front of me at the CS desk wanted to get a full refund for a huge steak that she bought. She already cooked and ate it, but did not like the taste. Therefore, she brought the paper wrapper back, demanding for a full refund. All the managers and supervisors were called over to assist her. I was tempted to go grab 10 bags of Lindt Truffles, open them, gobble all of them in front of her, and then show the empty bags and wraps to the CS for a full refund. All to show her how ridiculous her request was.

By the way, if you have any left-over $1/1 Chobani yogurt MQ that you don't need, I would love to trade with you. Pretty please.

Last round, it was $5.98 which was high. However, still a slight mm of $4.01 for each $50 AE card purchased.

The rational voice of karmalaw will tell you that it's a bargain and that she will do it. I assumed a part-time position of spokesperson for karmalaw!

The next contest starts at the end of February and will be "strawberries".

 Would you like to share your receipe on the board? My 3-year-old will be your judge. If she will eat the whole plate, you've got a winning recipe in my house and I will have her draw a $5200 Publix GC with her multi-color crayons for you!

eFelicity - PM me your address and I will be happy to send them to you. I have the printable versions as well as a Newspaper version.

I found some Target coupons that match up to this week's ad. If your Publix considers Target to be a competitor, there are a few more options!

The real shame is that she probably got her refund. My husband is a manager at a steak house. People complain on a regular basis that the food wasn't the way they wanted after they ate it all and they don't have to pay. If they REALLY throw a fit, they might even get the entire party's meal for free. Sometimes they even complain because they don't like the way the steak looks, so the steak gets thrown in the trash so they can get a prettier one. I find the waste just disgusting and I don't even want to think about how much more we pay because of these kinds of people. Not the right way to get a discount IMO.

Depends on the card. It's printed right on the packaging -- the $100 card was the best value (rather than 2 $50's or 4 $25s) -- it was $100 last time they did this.. BUT, The $50 works also. Just know that there's about a 1 hour lag time between when you purchase it and when you can use it. If you're the type of person who'd use a $4 off coupon --- then this is the deal for you. It's basically a free $4 for converting your money to the card -- and the card can be used nearly everywhere. At Publix there's no issue with using any wonky leftover amounts on the card -- the registers are set up for "split tender" -- just use the card and the rest you'll pay however else you'd usually pay.

If you do Wags, they are Megasaver 2/$6 and there is a $5 RR wyb $10 Hershey.

Buy 4, use 4x$1 mq and cost is $8 then you get a $5 RR... so $3 for 4.

I bought the York Pieces, it's like eating peppermint M&Ms. They're very good at 75 cents a bag, but I wouldn't spend $3 a bag!

Don't bother looking for dispensers. Just go to your friendly Publix anytime after 7 am on Saturday and make sure you look for the EARLY EDITION Sunday paper. (Or Wags or wherever.)

[Starting editting here since I posted incorrect info...]

There is an El Sentinel paper (in Spanish) for both the South Florida market and the Orlando market. You can subscribe to these at www.elsentinel.com [elsentinel.com].

South Floridians can pick up the El Sentinel at some/all? Publix and Wags locations. It comes out on Saturday as well. It does NOT contain the same Qs as the Herald. Sometimes it contains additional ones (like Scott, Huggies, and Knorr this week), and it is always missing some things from the other inserts.

So what's the likelihood (or lack thereof) of being able to buy a $100 AMEX card and getting two $10 Publix GCs instead of buying 2 $50s?

Who makes the money off of the service fee? If it's not Publix and instead it's AMEX (what I'm assuming), I'm thinking Publix wouldn't care which denomination I purchased.

Also, just to AGAIN clarify...the El Sentinel is the Spanish version of the SOUTH FLORIDA Sun-Sentinel. Unless I am mistaken (and feel free to tell me I am), the Orlando Sentinel's only link here is that it also has the word "Sentinel" in its name. (Orlando is not in South Florida.)

The Orlando Sentinel also publishes an El Sentinel with coupons.

The Purina ONE Dog Food is on Advantage Buy for 2/$10, which combines well with the PQ for $3 off. $2 for the small bag equals out to 50 cents per pound, and that is a stock-up price for me.

This is probably THE deal of this week. I hope that my husband and my 3-year-old will like the cat food a lot because I will be feeding them this for the whole week. :lmao:

Last year, I filled up the trunk of my car with Goodlife cat food (over the span of a week in many different Publix stores). Please don't jump into the conclusion and start calling me a hoader or a Smash-and-Grabber! Again, I don't mind being called a Deal Robot or Dr. :lmao:. I donated all the cat food to our local Humane Society. I want to thank kjegbert again and again for mentioning the unlimited $3/1 printable last time.
No $3/1 IP this time but if you have the $2/1 MQ, please consider buying the food and donate to your local animal shelters!

If your store considers Food Lion a competitor, there is a $1.00 off any $5.00 Deli purchase coupon located here:

avalon 02-10-2010 08:34 AM

As far as petfood matchups there are lots of small value MQ Purina coupons around now, like in last Sunday's paper and there used to be a $1 MQ printable at target but I think it disappeared now.

There is a target $1 off 15 cans but it's not a MQ and I am pretty sure you cannot do PQ + competitor Q.

Friskies 3.15 pound bag for cats hits $3 at publix once a month which would be MM with the $2.50 PQ and the $1 MQ but I don't like to feed my kitties quite that low end. I think it's $4 off sale.

Oh the Target MQ (small target logo, but it scans at publix) printable for Cat Chow is definitely still there, it only disappeared on mine after I printed it I guess.

Go here, click on PETS to the left and then go to PAGE 2
http://sites.target.com/site/en/s...s_specials
and then pair it with http://akimages.crossmediaservice...1_3CPN.JPG
for a total savings of $3.50

You can print it twice.
I believe e-incentives allows you to print again if you change to a new user on windows.

But cat chow is $5 @ Publix while only $3.75 at walmart. Kinda crazy.
Then again Walgreens has the same size bag for $6.75 which is nuts.

Did the Post cereal today. Only the Selects and Trail Mix are included in the BOGO, not the regular cereals. Reading the print ad though, it seems that more items should be included. Just me, I guess.

I never ever have to use the Penny Item coupon to get the Penny Item in all the Publix stores in my area. All I have to do is ask the cashier "What is the Penny Item for this week" or "If this is the Penny Item of the week? (as if I did not know)." Then, I say "I don't have the Penny Item coupon but I would like to get the item. Is that okay?" Almost every time, a cashier will remind me that "Yes but only if you have $10 or more purchase." Maybe you can try it next time.

Sorry, just verifying - so this is free with Healthy Wallet Q? :yummy:

Thanks for the report, eFelicity!

I did a quick run to a different Publix today.

The cheesecake middles cookies are part of the BOGO keebler cookies this week, so .74 after printable Q.

I also saw peelies on softsoap liquid handsoap. I only grabbed one, it's for .50 exp, 4/30/10 and looks to be good on any size. I found them on the 8.5 oz size. They were in a display with softsoap bodywash, toothbrushes, and colgate toothpaste. The bodywash had .75 peelies and the colgate had .50. I assume they expire the same, I didn't take any. Kroger had it on sale for $1 last week, but not sure about this week, so free after doubles.

Found 4 Glade scented oil tins today on the clearance rack marked $1.75. Used a $1.50 MQ (from inside a previously purchased tin) and then got 4 Glade air sprays, minus free Q from Publix flyer. So $1 for 4 tins and 4 sprays.

Nice deal. You can use those for the $5 SC Johnson rebate.

That's what I normally do but my Publix now requires the coupon for the penny item.

A very good deal on Pedialyte right now using the $3/2 PQ from the Green Advantage Flyer and the new BOGO IP coupon HERE [pedialyte.com]

There was also a $1.50/1 any Pedialyte product MQ in the 11/8/09 SS insert (exp 4/1/10)

The 4-pk powders are $4.99 each

Buy 2 $4.99 powders = 9.98
Use BOGO coupon (-4.99)
Use $1.50/1 MQ
Ues $3/2 PQ
=.49 for both

I think the liquid Pedialye is around the same price

cleugers 02-11-2010 06:25 PM

Didn't see this mentioned anywhere but at my Publix they take Wags IVC Q's there is a Q in there for $3 off of Revlon Beauty tool that I was able to use got free clippers and a $1.51 overage to boot.
also
In the Green Publix flyer there is also a coupon for $2.50 off of Revlon cosmetic over 2.99. This can be used with the $3 on some sort of Beauty tool as long as its over $2.99. I went to several Publix and none of them sell Revlon cosmetics only the beauty tools so the grocery mngr said it was ok to use the Q's on those items since they did not carry the face product

so thats $5.50 towards a Revlon Beauty tool

Putting this in one post so I can see it and make sense of it. I took a fall today and am so sore I can't sleep, and too sleepy to comprehend:

The promo is Buy $50 AMEX GC and get $10 Publix GC Free.
You buy AMEX for $54.95 and get the $10 Publix.
You buy $50 Publix and pay with the $50 AMEX.
Rinse and Repeat, correct?

Now my question: Can you purchase other GC's as well? Restaurant, gas, whatever? For a $5.05 MM every time, it just might be worth investing a few hundred dollars.

Mama, help me here, please. Here is what I thought you did:
Step 1:
Buy $50 AMEX GC with the PQ. Pay $50 + $4.95 (activation fee) = $54.95 and you get a $10 Publix GC. So, in a nutshell, it's a $5.05 mm.
Step 2:
Use the $50 AMEX GC to buy a $50 Publix GC. So, this is money-laundry. You break even.
Step 3:
Rinse and repeat.

I don't understand how you made $10 during the 2 GC purchases.

I never found the Healthy Wallet Happier You (which I am not too happy about). I just googled the booklet and saw a picture of the $1/1 Breakstone's coupon. The wording of the coupon requires both products (Cottage Doubles AND 4-pk Cottage Cheese). The picture on the coupon is only 4-pk Cottage Cheese. I am not sure how the coupon is coded (76 for $1/1 or 33 for $1/2).

Yeah, there had been a lot of talk about that coupon because of the wording but I have it in front of me and it is coded 76.

DH was finally impressed again this week. I ordered 24 coupons for Goodlife off the CouponClippers. That means 24 bags of cat food for about $11 after the cost of coupons and tax, etc.!!! He even called from work to make me tell him about the deal again while a co-worker was listening. I was beginning to think I had lost the touch!

I was also a bit concerned about the wording on the coupon, so I called Kraft a few weeks ago as it was a HUGE money maker at Albertson's. They assured me it was one or the other I needed to buy and not both. They also gave me a reference # for our conversation incase the store gave me any problems, but I had no problems at all using them, even though each cashier I had read the coupon carefully. Kraft did admit that the coupon was poorly worded.

lurkielounomore 02-12-2010 06:54 AM

For those that WAG, there were tearpads with "Free Oreo Cakesters" (up to $3.29) WYB any one Oreo (5oz or larger). Those $.99 pkgs of Oreos (this week) at WAGS are 6oz. so buy small Oreo, use man-q + Free Oreo man-q for free Oreos and free (or close as they were slightly higher than 3.29 at my store) Cakesters. Even better with today's FF discount. These might also be good at WM as they carry those small boxes of Nabisco for cheap.

Because she is getting a $10 Publix card each time she gets an AM ex. So if she did 3 transactions, she would have 1 50 am ex, 1 $50 Publix, and 2 $10 Publix (from the coupon).

That's funny. I emailed them and they told me you were required to buy both items. Just another example of how customer service response varies. I don't think the coupon is poorly worded, it does say and on there, so that is an automatic given that you need to purchase two products. Now if it said, "or" okay, that's great! A lot of times there are coupons coded 76 for $1/1 off, but the coupon says you must buy 2 or more items. In that case, you NEED to buy 2 or more items, to meet the coupon requirements.

Well, that is why I called obviously because of the word "and". It's because I thought the word should have been "or", because IMO, people normally buy one or the other of those products and not both. I even went further than the first person I spoke to. She said one or the other, and I asked her if she wouldn't mind checking further because I didn't want to have a problem at the store. That is when she checked with a supervisor and came back and offered me the reference # so if I did have a problem, the store could call Kraft. I feel very comfortable in the way I used those coupons.

See, now yes people would normally buy one or the other, but to me, it is obvious they are trying to "push" both products to be sold.

I just love ( and nothing bad against you!) that we can receive many different answers from customer service reps, as it's painfully obvious 1/2 of them don't know what they are talking about. :lmao:

This won't be the first time a coupon has been "mis-written" nor do I think it will be the last. I wish they would think more though when putting these coupons out! lol.

I agree as I sit here trying to decide about the Pedialyte Publix Q. Is it 2 Pedialyte liters or 1 4 ct of sticks or 2 liters or 2 sticks.

Do I buy 1 4 ct stick or 2 4 ct sticks?

It's off of 2, but I think I see what you mean :)

Okay, I hope I can explain this right, ;)

See the name Pedialyte is before the liter, but not before the sticks? That to me means that if they took out the liter or sticks, the wording would be off of two pedialyte.

If they wanted you to buy just one I think they would have worded it this way:

Save $3 on any 2 Pedialyte liters or 1 Pedialyte 4ct powder sticks.

So you can mix and match, you can get 2 liters, 2 sticks, or one of each, but either way you need to buy 2.

Now I hope I didn't royally confuse you! :O

Oooh, sorry, I had the coupon right in front of me and didn't notice the wording - it says, "SAVE $1.00 on ONE (1) BREAKSTONE'S COTTAGE DOUBLES & 4-pack Cottage Cheese" (yes, with that sort of odd capitalization too ) - and as you pointed out, the picture only shows the 4-pack. However, it is indeed coded as a 76, which leaves me wondering what the manufacturer intent on it was. :scratchh: You're probably right though - must've been wishful thinking on my part to misinterpret the coupon originally.

I don't think I will be going to Publix until later this weekend. I ran in last night for a few things. It was crowded, everyone stocking up for the snow storm. I didn't get any frozen stuff yet. My 2 DS's love the Sara lee poundcake. I slice it up, wrap it 2 slices together, and keep in the freezer. Then pull it out and they eat it right away.

It's snowing pretty hard here. Waiting for my youngest to get awake and then may take them outside. My 4 yo DS told me that it was too cold. At least, I won't have to stay out that long!

rydergal 02-12-2010 01:23 PM

If'n all of you brilliant minds haven't thought of it yet...ask if your store will let you get a $100 AmEx card and 2 $10 Publix cards. The activation fee is $5.95...which makes it a $14.05 moneymaker. I didn't think of it until I stopped at the third store on my way home today, but they said yes, as long as I used 2 q's.

I was not going to do it, but figured I would try it for the 5.01 MM it was, then I got the bright idea, why not buy another card with the card I just purchased...
well that did not go as planned....
"Sorry you have to use cash or debit card to get the AMEX"
"well, can I use a publix gift card?"
"lemme check, yes Maam you can"....
"ok can I please buy a $50.00 publix gc" :bounce:
I hand over the 50.00 AMEX
I get my 50 Publix GC and off to shop I go, tossing in my cart, a 50.00 AMEX and a publix gift card....
so now I have made $10.00
if (which is not impossible for me) I go to publix, 3 times a day, and do this each time in my MM is one hundred dollars!
I'm down with that.

I'm not sure why they wouldn't let you use a credit card to buy the Amex GC -- I buy Amex GCs all the time using an Amex credit card (but have never tried to do so at Publix).

BRILLIANT - The worse thing they can tell me is "NO". I will try it tomorrow!

It is amazing we did not think of this sooner! :worship:

EDIT: It appears that Hoosierdog did bring this up earlier - I must have missed it. I was in la la land from doing the match up's. Reps to both of you!!! This is why it takes everyone to make it all work!

OK - so we are a little excited over the snow in Atlanta today. It was great because my child was already off school today for a teacher in service today. No shopping for me this afternoon, Christopher and I built a snowman!

You sneaky little devil!
This scenario sounds great.
Can we go back the next day and use the Amex giftcard to buy another Amex giftcard and get another 20 publix gift card? Does that make sense..hope so. Trying to wrap my mind around rolling this deal.

Who makes the money off of the service fee? If it's not Publix and instead it's AMEX (what I'm assuming), I'm thinking Publix wouldn't care which denomination I purchased.

AFTER I "purchased" the Publix GC, I then turned around and did another AMEX/Publix gift card deal....
First deal was 5.01 MM
second deal is 10.02
was a good day today too, did this many times, One tried to C-Block me, however her manager explained nicely to her that Publix, ISN'T losing out on the deal, so "don't worry about it."

I have asked five stores that I have been to, and all have said no AMEX will not allow that, one did say I could do TWO $50.00 which I replied No Thanks!.
I wasn't planning on doing that anyhow, until I have reached $100.00MM....I don't like having money "not so accessible"

Arrrrrrrrgh I wish I could figure out "multi quote"
I don't know, they told me that was their policy,
today I went to CS to ask for a AMEX card, so I could buy it at the register ( with my order) She said How are you paying, i said cash and publix gift card.
She said oh ok, cause if it was a check you would have to come to CS so we could verify with bank the monies are there. I was a little taken back. I asked why that was, they said it was AMEX's requirement with this GC deal.
LOL but as I know, each store has their "own set of CORPORATE policies"

plgffl 02-12-2010 05:14 PM

MsAttitude-

Multi quoting is easy!

Look at the bottom of my post. YOu will see 4 bottons. One says mod alert (oh please don't do that to me :lmao:, reply, then two quote bubbles, and then a pencil in a quote bubble. You want the third button from left, 2nd from right (the 2 quote bubble one). When you point your mouse over it, it will say "Multi-quote this message".

Click on that button for each post you want to click on. Then you click on post reply. You will have all the multi-quotes in one post :)

I have 2 local Pulix that allows ovrge.Does anyone use the knox $4 coupon for ovrge?? if so how many do you use at one time?? I don't want to abuse the coupon.

Just a reminder that the Healthy Choice Mixers are BOGO at $2.99.

There is a printable for $1.00/1 that is an ALL YOU exclusive. It is located here http://http://www.allyou.com/coup...000049927/ utilizing zip 34711.

Buy 2 of them for $2.99
Use 2 of the $1.00 off ALL YOU printables (there are also several other sources for $1.00 MF coupons)
Use $1/2 Walgreens Coupon (Monthly Book - Pink Book found near ad's at the door - Make your sweetheart Happy)

. . . AND THE HEALTHY CHOICE MIXERS ARE FREE!!!! (Actually it is a .01 mm)

FYI - There is also a Marie Callender's ALL YOU exclusive $1/1 coupon at the same link.

I am hoping the Friskies 5.5 oz cans will go on sale before the 24th (but they were on sale recently for 40 cents so probably not)

currently they are 50 cents each
24 cans - $2.50 PQ (for 24) - $1 MQ (for 12) - $1 MQ (for 12) = $7.50 / 24 = 31 cents per can

I'd like to break 30 cents, maybe 25 cents per can.
If they went back to 40 cents:
((.40 * 24) - 2.50 - 1 - 1) / 24 = 21 cents per can !

I have used as many as 4 at a time, but I don't think they really care. I just try not to cause too much attention

Are you just shelling out 50 cash each time on the amex card just to get the 10 publix card and the 50 publix card... Sorry im dense today:)

I tried doing the Amex deal and ended up in an argument with the CS mngr I first asked if I could do $100, no problem but I had to wait awhile for it to activate so I did my shopping then went back to CS and told the girl that I would like to buy another $100 ame using the one I had bought and she looked at me as if she didn't understand what I had said. I told her I had already cleared with the CS mngr and it was ok. She goes and gets CS mngr at this point I'm holding up the line the CS mngr says no I said you could buy multiple $50 NO SHE DID NOT!!! that was why I was holding a $100 right????

I told the rude lieing CS mngr I wanted a refund because that was not the way she had explained it 45 mintues prior.

She was really Biatchy. She goes and talks to the store mngr he said only if I do 2 $50 I could use the amex OK whatever I did

so I I ended up with 2 $50 Amx GC
and 4 $10 Pblx GC

this little ordeal cost 15.85 for activation fees for a MM of 24.15 not bad after all the stress from attila the hun......

My experience on SD (which is not all that long but I consider myself an "oldie" here) is that whenever karmalaw makes a post, I read and read and make notes. She is one of the few articulate and savvy SDers out there who can provide a wealth of information in a concise matter. :worship: I really enjoy her posts.

Here is a perfect example of her post when a simple question was asked about the activation fee of an AMEX card.

Now, my memory is coming back to me. I purchased a $100 AMEX card which came with the $10 Publix GC last time when the deal was offered. My Publix was weird because instead of paying $105.xx (including the activation fee) and getting a $10 Publix GC, the CS supervisor rang me up in the way that I paid about $95 for a $100 AMEX card (no Publix GC). Interesting, isn't it?!

I had that happen one time in the past. When they ran out of publix gift cards they began just taking $10 off your total. Sounds close to your situation.

hotmommatrish2 02-13-2010 08:50 PM

ok have a question about the RELVON coupon in the green coupons which is a publix coupon.. can i use it for finger nail clippers and nail files?

jdrodgers1013 02-13-2010 09:05 PM

So I finally made it out of my snow palace today (LOL) and made a trip to Publix. Here was my trip:

2 Goodlife Cat Food - .25 per bag
4 Healthy Choice Mixers - Free
2 Sara Lee Carrot Cakes (These are so yummy) - 1.29 per cake
4 Crystal Light Lemonade - .25 each
2 Bob Evans Hash Browns - .29 each
2 Country Crock Spread - .08 each
2 Nesquik Milk - Free
2 Knox Gelatin - Free ($5.20 ov)
4 Hallmark Bows - Free
2 Bananas (Filler) - .23
1 Jalapeño (Filler) - .06
1 Sunday Newspaper - 1.87

Total - $6.98
Overage - $5.20
Tax - .56
OOP - $1.34 :dance14:

American Express Gift Card - $100.00
Activation Fee - $5.95
Total - $105.95
Minus - $20.00 - (Two $10.00 Publix "credits")
Payment - $85.95

Somehow I was under the impression that you physically received a $10.00 Publix gift card when you purchased a $50.00 AMEX gift card (similar to the way Target does it) yet my cashier just punched in the PLU and off came $10.00 - he did this two times since I bought a $100 card!! That was fine with me!!

I am a happy shopper today!

Oh, I really like the way he did that for you! I got physical gift cards. The first time, I just brought the AmEx card to the register, and the cashier had the bagger go grab a Publix card off the rack...apparently they don't keep any at the registers (I kinda assumed they would, especially with this q going on). So I started bringing a Publix card up with me each time. I kinda like your version though...instant gratification!

hoosierdog 02-13-2010 09:36 PM

I also had to bring up the Publix and Amex cards to the CS desk, but they had no problem letting me get one $100 instead of 2 50's. When I checked out at in the regular line, a woman was holding up the line. I noticed the cashier was trying to look at something, and realized it was an Amex card. I said, "Excuse me, but did you just buy that?" She said yes, and I explained about the 1 hr.+ to activate it. Everyone was very nice about it.

I decided that what makes the most sense for me is not to do these Amex to Publix back to Amex at the CS desk. Seems to be more logical to have a Publix gift card in my cart, and when I get to the checkout, I tell them to put $100 on it, and then checkout with my Amex card (and my usual form of payment, credit card). Then, next checkout, I just do the opposite.

The Publix cards are reloadable, so I'm thinking I should be able to have them continue to use the same card over and over again. (That way my green Publix card can be MORE green!)

Funniest line ever from a cashier tonight. Young kid, and keep in mind we're in Florida... He looks at my Fiber One yogurt IPs and says, "I'm sorry, I can't take these... They say 'Do not double' on them." I looked at him as if he were from Mars :lmao:, and said, "That's for places that double coupons. You don't double coupons." He said, "Right. So I can't take them." I explained that every Publix in every other state doubles Qs and he asked what I meant by that, and then he finally got it.

It took my DH to explain it to me on the way out: the kid thought "Do not double" meant that I couldn't have "double" the amount of Qs. (I had four IPs for two BOGO deals.) :lmao:

hoosierdog 02-13-2010 09:48 PM

Sorry for double post, but for those unable to read (tolerate!) my long posts... :D

Orbit watermelon 3-packs are on clearance at my store for 0.99. There's an Orbit $1/1 IP MQ here.

Also, I found a tearpad for Starbucks: B2G1F for 4-pack frapps or Double Shots. Add that to the $1/1 IP here and that makes 3 4-packs for $7.98 (that's 4.99x3 minus 2 $1/1 Qs).

Enjoy! :yummy:

him810ce 02-14-2010 09:16 AM

Couldn't find the orbit...store wouldn't let me buy the 100.00 Amex card, but I bought $50, used the 10.00 Publix card for:
2 goodlife cat food
1 99 cent card
2 Kelloggs cereals
used .99 card Q, 2 2.00 goodlife, 1.50 wyb 2 kellogs cereal
total was 3.37 with balance of 6.63 still on GC.

I think I know why....
I have to assume your transaction went like this....
1 $50.00 AMEX
1 $10.00 publix gift card
1 $4.95
total $64.95
minus $10.00 gift card coupon
total 54.95

this is where my "guess" takes place....
you tried to use your AMEX card at this point and it said "not authorized"

if this is what happened, the reason is your amount due was MORE than the card you had (only50.00) (precisely why I "bought" Publix cards)
with the AMEX your total can not be more than what is on the card.
to avoid this, pay first with 4.95 cash, then your total is 50.00 and the AMEX will AUTHORIZE, your purchase...
if you trade em for the publix gift cards, you dont have that problem, since their gift cards are in sync with their computer programs.

I hope you understand what I am saying, because I feel as though I am having difficulty expressing what I mean.

Just wondering if I've got it straight cuz I can't spare $100.00 in real money...lol.

2. And then usind $100 AMEX to buy $100 Publix GC ?

3. Then using $100.00 Publix GC to pay for another $100 AMEX GC to get another $20 in Publix GC.

Awww you made me blush with your post! Anyway -- if they ring up the AX card, then apply the Publix coupon code(s), the amount of the Publix coupon code is deducted from the price of the AX card... if they then add the Publix GC to the order the the "coupon savings" gets applied to the Publix GC... if they skip the part where they add the Publix GC to the order.. then you've got an AX less the savings! Now, whether you can get stores/cashiers to do that is YMMV.

I stopped into my local problem child store on my way out last night only because it was on my way en route (if you're in Miami it's the Coral Gables store on 37th Avenue at SW 16th Street -- it's a horrendously coupon unfriendly store with assistant managers who are nice but can't do ANYTHING at all without talking to mysterious people who seemingly are never available) -- they wouldn't even let me buy Publix GCs with my AX GC (and they won't even let you use a debit card to purchase any GC at that store). . So all of this GC deal is truly YMMV.

Publix's registers are set up for "split tender" payments. The "not authorized" is 99% likely because the card wasn't fully authorized due to the lag time between when they purchased it and when AX activates the card in their system. The joy of using GCs at most Publix stores is that you can use the card -- the register will take the card up to the max amount and then tell you the amount that is due. If you have any doubts, just tell the cashier "there's $50 on this card, please apply it and I will pay the balance".

So you are saying ALL GCs behave the same way at Publix regardless it is a Publix GC or an AMEX or a Visa GC?

When you swipe the AMEX GC at Publix register, do you use the GC button or CC button? I have a Visa GC issued by Citi gift card system or something like that. The instruction says to use the CC button and that is what I does at Publix.

So you pay CASH, and get the 50AMEX card and then get a free 10 publix card.. then you take the amex card and buy a 50 dollar publix card... so how are rinsing and repeating??
Are you just shelling out 50 cash each time on the amex card just to get the 10 publix card and the 50 publix card... Sorry im dense today:)

Om so i am still confused...lol no one has gotten to answer my Q yet, and im eager to get to publix...lol I cant find a straight answer anywhere. Please let me now.

I know karmalaw said that there is a 1 hour window between activation and being able to use it, but the little pamphlet in the gift card says there is a 4 hour time period before you can use it after purchasing the card.

Pre-paid gift cards should be used as credit cards at Publix. Only Publix gift cards are applicable to the "gift card" option on the EFT system.

Then the Publix register still knows how to split payment, i.e. only apply the full amount of the available balance of the prepaid GCs, and then the rest of the balance to another form of payment?

This does not seem to be the case with the AMEX GC, which if the amount is larger than the value on the card the register would not know how to split it.

I did have an issue with Publix long time ago when I tried to use a prepaid GC which the remaining balance was LESS than the total purchases - the Publix register would not authorize the prepaid GC. This was long time ago though I have my doubt on whether what Kamalaw said is true about Publix register knows to split the payment.

The only thing I know FOR SURE is that Publix register knows to split payment on its OWN GCs. Ditto at Target. I have never come accross any other stores (including CVS and Wag as well as dept stores) that can handle split payment on 3rd party prepaid GCs. This is one of the reasons I dont like GCs at all - too much trouble to keep track of running total to know about the exact balance remaining on the card and then to make an effort to use up the last $ left.

OK...I'll take a stab at it:

It seems like this is the best scenario if your store will allow it (what jdrodgers did)

1 American Express Gift Card - $100.00
Activation Fee - $5.95
2 Publix $10 gift cards
Total - $125.95
Minus - $20.00 - (Two $10.00 Publix "credits" from in-ad coupon)
=105.95 paid by any method

Then, if you wait for the Amex to be activated (1-4 hours) you can then use that to buy a $100 Publix gift card. Then use that $100 Publix GC to immediately buy another $100 Amex gift card, then wait another 1-4 hours for the Amex card to be activated...then repeat.

If you can't get the $100 Amex gift card with 2 coupons, then buy a $50 Amex card, but the activation fee is still $4.95.

With the AX cards you have to tell the cashier how much you want them to charge to the card (so you will need to know the balance)... you can use the card first, then pay whatever you need to pay after. The AX cards go through as CCs.

I just know what happened to me, the card was activated, but the store could not accept it, until I paid the 4.95 cash first, then I was able to pay with the AMEX card after.

Some cashiers may not know how to do it -- I had one at Marshall's who freaked me out on a $100 AX GC when I'd handed it to her telling her to apply $100 to my purchase and I'd pay the rest -- she kept telling me the card was declined. Turns out she wasn't keying it to just apply $100 via the card.

Just a warning...went into Publix on beach blvd and hodges (Jacksonville) and the manager showed me a corporate wide email saying DO NOT ALLOW PEOPLE TO BUY GIFT CARDS WITH ANY CURRENCY OTHER THAN CASH OR DEBIT FOR THE GIFT CARD DEAL. He said corporate is looking at it as a scam and since they cannot change all the coupons they are operating on the "we reserve the right to refuse business to anyone". He said they had been doing it all week until they got the email. This was about 20 min. ago. So a heads up, you may get static tomorrow.

Ahh.. ok so you can buy a 100 publix card, and THEN use the publix card to buy an amex... thats where i was confused, i thought everyone was just shelling out 100 each time just to get the amex, because i did not know you could buy a amex card with publix:)

well, no you can't -- per the post above yours. You could have if you'd done it sooner. Such is the way of SD.

him810ce 02-15-2010 03:51 AM

Even if you don't want to repeat the buying process to make more money, you could still buy the amex, get the publix card...multiple times even if you have the money and then just spend all on your weekly grocery bills...It's still a money maker that way too. I was headed out to buy an expensive pair of shoes so I just stopped at Publix before and bought 2 cards that I would then just buy the shoes...made 10.10 profit ( in 20.00 ) grocery money just because I stopped:) hth people that don't want to rinse/repeat, but still want to make money on money they will spend anyway. I need coffee!

Well, I don't think the AmEx cards are worth the hassle but for those who do....here are a couple of tidbits for you.

It appears that the service fee is actually Publix profit, so those stores who won't allow you to buy the Publix card AND another AmEx are costing the store money.

While at Publix yesterday I found Loreal Everpure sulfate free uv hair protectant in the clearance area marked down to $3.00. There are tons of $2.00 MQ out there so it will cost $1.00. I can't say how the uv protectant product works but I love the shampoo and conditioner. It really does help keep your hair color longer. I purchased a few for the summer when I am at the pool all day with the kids. My hair takes such a beating in the sun over the summer. if anyone has used this product I would love to hear a review.

pharmstudent01 02-15-2010 08:10 AM

Just got back from Publix bought $100 Amex and got 2 $10 Publix GCs (which I used right away...no issues). I paid for the Amex with my debit card which I ran through as credit to get reward points (Wachovia). Cashier didn't seem to care about payment method (although I did pick a young girl ;))

If memory serves, "the brain" is usually fireflymuze, tn_native (who is on vacation this week), eFelicity and plgffl. (I hope I am not leaving anyone out!) I did it last week and it was an adventure. A lot more work than what you think because the work is not done for 7 days as you have to keep going back and modifying the post as new things are discovered throughout the week.

Please be considerate and make sure to rep those who do the work! :worship:

Oooof....thanks for pointing that out. I just double checked the coupon.

Still on vacation, but noticed at the Spartanburg Publix that the Planters Trail Mix was $1.50. $1/1 Q in the Healthy Wallet Happier You booklet.
Fisher Fusions is on sale this week, but it was a pleasant surprise to be able to buy the Planters for 50 cents a bag and NOT have to mail it to the niece.

Personal taste review of the new Fitness Grape Crystal Light :shake: so one box will go back. Not near as good as the white grape that I'm accustomed to.

Ballgame tonight at 7 eastern. Expect to roll back into the SILs about 2:30 in the morning. I'll spend the 'night' there and then drive back home once I get some sleep. Hope to post tomorrow night if everything's OK at the house.

That would be grated or shredded parmesan and romano cheeses (for pasta, etc.). It's considered fresh and is found in the refrigerated section of the deli area as opposed to the Kraft parmesan bottles in the pasta/sauce aisle.
