Amazon originally had this card at $209.99 earlier this month, which is what I bought it for. They then had it for $174.99 for about half a day and then it went up to $229.99. I missed out on the $174.99 last time but was able to get my order adjusted.

That being said, they still haven't shipped the card to me. Expected delivery date of October 6 - October 19. If you don't mind waiting for the card, I'd say it's a good deal. If you need a video card right now, then you probably want to look elsewhere.

no. I bought evga Gtx460 768mb 3 months ago, and it was brand new. They also do not accept returns. I believe most manufacture cards require them not to accept returns. Instead, we return the card to the manufacture and get a replacement.

Whoever are going to jump on the deal because of ati hd6k series. Expect you are going to pay about 5850 price for a 6750 or 6770. Do not expect to pay lower than 200 for those two models. True it might have better performance than a gtx 460. But! by how much? what's the cost per performance?

what they dont disclose is the FULL price on new release and limited availablity...and they are usually just reference designs.... we'll see how long after 6xxx launch date that the exotic coolers like MSI's Frozr and dual-fan heat pipes take to reach the market.
This "i'll wait until 6xxx" reminds me of the "i'll wait until intel's new SSD".... so imagine they will have to "wait" longer since intel just annonced a delay until 2011 release. It wont surprise me if AMD is late to their own party also. Time will tell, in the meantime we should have our ASUS gtx460s. :D

The people who voted down for the reason of "not a good product" are just ignorant. The product itself is great. Just search for reviews anywhere and you should come to the same conclusion. It has excellent performance with a great cooler. Two of them in SLI will smoke a single GTX480 in almost every game.

It just comes down whether or not you can justify the price right now, given that ATi's next gen cards are coming soon. This is the cheapest I've ever seen a 1GB GTX460, let alone one with a good cooler and factory overclocks.

I had an open order on 2x of the DirectCU TOP GTX 460 1GB's back when they were $209.99. They still hadn't shipped it, so I explained the situation to them and about how the price had since dropped by $35.

The service rep said something about how it wasn't in their policy or something to alter prices once orders have been placed? But then immediately afterwards she also said that they were making a 1 time exception due to the circumstances or whatnot. So, hopefully mine ship out in a few days at this price.

Actually, there have already been a lot of "soft" and hard price cuts across the board for the past few weeks. GTX 460's, already very well priced at $200/220, have taken ~$30-50 price drops in most cases. Same could be said of every GPU, really - within the past 3 weeks there've been $385 GTX 480's, ~$275 GTX 470's, and right now there's a 5850 for $229.

Lotta MIR's involved, ofc, but I'm betting that the price drops are probably going to be pretty close to these. Pricing of 6750 and 6770 are going to be very tricky, especially depending on performance. Part of the problem is that if 6770 and 6750 are going to be the only ones released this fall (with 6870 and 6850 pushed back to next year), 6770 and 6750 prices are going to be slightly inflated regardless due to all the people that have been sitting on their thumbs waiting for it.

Something else you have to consider is just how much better is the 6770 going to be than the GTX 460? 10%? 15%? Now if they manage to achieve that at the same price point, how well will they scale in crossfire in comparison to 2 GTX 460's?

You know what, here's the deal. I bought one of these just right now because frankly I've been looking for a GTX 460 1GB for about 3 months now and this is a great deal on a very reputable brand with a good factory heatsink. I'm excited about the ATI cards though and think of this as an insurance policy. I have the card at this price but I was planning on waiting anyways.. It doesn't ship for another 5 weeks so I'm just going to keep checking on the ATI cards till I have solid info and if they are significantly better and priced $200 then I will pay more and get a more future proof card. If not I will keep this one.

IF you can crossfire, you'd be FAR better off getting another 4870 here for $90. You'll not get DX11, but you'll pay $80 less and have a more powerful setup.

Is this Asus card already over-clocked from the factory, or simply built to allow for better over-clocking? If the former, would there be more heat and perhaps resulting fan noise, if the card is already over-clocked? Sorry, I am new to this stuff, and trying to determine if this card is going to be using more power and generating more heat than other GTX460 cards. Thanks for any advice. (I plan to run PhotoShop, AfterEffects, and various other freeware video editing solutions, if that matters.)

Hands down this is the best deal I've seen for a 1GB 460, though I personally think the PNY XLR8 GTX 465 with Mafia 2 and Just Cause 2 for $168 was better than this, considering the lifetime warranty. Not opening up debate about 465 vs. (1GB)460 - though fundamentally different pieces of hardware, at this price range they're both excellent cards and an excellent value.

I'm not sure how much lower they can be discounted, though; I think what we're seeing with these awesome prices is a preemptive move to clear out inventory before the AMD cards potentially undercut them, which could force the cards to be liquidated at a loss. Obviously this is pure speculation on my part - I really don't care too much about the reasons, I'm just happy the prices are getting in line with reality!

And hooray for Amazon - to hell with waiting for shipping, I'd rather buy from them over the 'Egg any day of the week!

I got in on the GTX465 deal but the rebate was a PITA. I think it came out to $10 more overall (tax, a $5 free to receive the rebate faster) than this deal. I only got Mafia 2 since I ordered too early but ended up giving that away. It was a better deal but this isn't bad either.

Got the exact same e-mail for my order about 1 minute ago. I ordered mine the first time, about 2-3 weeks ago. I think all the people buying the card for the past 24 hours alerted Amazon to the price mistake. Thanks, guys, JEEZ.

I just got that email too. They had the freaking nerve to even post it at the $175 price again before finally admitting it was a pricing error?

I was just looking at the latest issue of MaximumPC, and they gave the Gigabyte GV-N460OC-1GI GTX 460 a 9/10, KickAss rating ($220 on Newegg). Unfortunately, they compared it to the 768mb Asus card with a 192-bit memory bus, rather than an "apples-to-apples" comparison with the Asus card in this deal.

Can you provide the link you found comparing the Asus to the Gigabyte?

UPDATE: Just looked, my order was canceled also. Disappointing that Amazon doesn't even offer a coupon or anything to make up for their mistake.

I just feel sorry for the people who ordered early August (earliest I've seen was August 6th) and still got their order cancelled. Two months, two delivery date moves, and still cancelled.

I got a upsell offer, but instead I cross shopped and got a good price. Hopefully that one ships (it's currently OOS w/ no estimated ship, so I figure what's there to lose).

I was in the same boat. I'm not pleased in the least. My last GTX250 is here chugging along alone..it needs a replacement soon before it catches fire like the others.

This is an odd move by Amazon. Even if it is truly a pricing error, it can't be that big of a one. It's not like this was accidentally posted for 50% off or something. They should have honored the price and delivered.

They would have lost maybe $10 a card. Big whoopee.

Chances are very high that it isn't actually a price mistake.

I've gotten 4 pretty obvious price mistake items shipped from Amazon in the last few months.

Plus even people who have ordered the card at $210 couldn't get theirs shipped (Theres really no way $210 for that card is price mistake).



What is most likely happening is that Amazon isn't going to be getting as many (or any) of those Asus graphics cards, and decided to be like Dell posting BS excuses instead of telling the real reason for cancellation.

And in the meantime.... WTB graphics card deal that doesn't involve 10% CA tax...

Very disappointed in Amazon. They must have something that alerts them to too many orders for a highly discounted item, so that they can correct this "mispriced item". Bunch of BS!

This is the first bad experience I've had with Amazon in 10 years. And it's a doozy.

I guess we'll know for sure what REALLY happened soon. I called and had a lengthy chat with a rep and they basically told me something completely different - that they simply had no stock. She put up a whole bunch of theories about why it might've happened - i.e. ASUS and Amazon disagreeing on what the price should be and them not knowing when they might get any stock whatsoever period.

If Amazon starts selling the ASUS DirectCU TOP 1GB GTX 460 again for a higher price in the next week or so we'll know that they're just throwing out BS to avoid having to ship out "under priced" product.

So bummed. It was too good to be true. Another case of amazon being shady. Watch your credit cards guys...It feels so fishy.

Also, did your guys' amazon accounts just have the order ERASED? Like it never happened? Mine's like that. I was expecting for the order number to still be there, with a "cancelled" message or something next to it, but it's just gone completely. Tell me that I'm not the only one...
