I would hope that they calculated kWh before and after and then translated that into current costs. That would show the true increase.

I TOTALLY agree. I was just going to mention the factors that you stated too. Most importantly, the article itself states that the University of CA study attributes the extra $3.19 (WOW!!!!) in utility costs to more air conditioner/cooling costs. How about those families who don't need it in the summer?

By the way, I LOVE DST because of the extra hour of daylight that we get during those months. That is actually PRICELESS to me. Even if it meant an extra several hundred dollars to me, I would still LOVE DST.
