That is a real good deal - except one thing.

Canon introduces new cameras in Feb. and Aug. It is now Aug, and the Rebel XT hasn't been updated since Feb. 05. Me thinks the XT is getting an upgrade.

Yeah, I'm almost positive newegg has the XT for $50 less than they had it 2 weeks ago. I'm thinking Canon XTs are getting a price drop, and I think it's because they will be called 'the old Rebel' within a week or two.

even so, the XT's are fantastic cameras for what they are. Even with a camera upgrade in February (allegedly, but probable), i would buy the XT in a heartbeat if I needed a camera

FYI:

August 24th Canon is releasing info on new products and one of them is rumored
to be an upgrade to the Rebel, possibly a 10mp version.

Canon announces the new Rebel XT today with over 10 megapixels and other new features...

I'm hoping for an XT price drop as I don't need 10 megapixels but do want the Rebel. I'd take an older version at 6 megapixels if I could still find one.
