Kenmore Pro Review: Run and do not pass "GO" and do not collect $200
In 2007 we bought the full line Of Kenmore Pro (counter depth refrigerator), Built in over, Dishwasher and 30” cook top.
1- Stainless Steel Kenmore PRO 23.1 cu. ft. Counter Depth Side-By-Side Refrigerator: Sears item# 04644333000 Mfr. model# 44333
• The outside gages do not work. Not for the freezer , and not for the refrigerator. According to a high end electronic thermometer the difference between the display and the real temperature varies by as much as 10 degrees.
• The most frustrating issue we had was the measurements. We planned to have the refrigerator go against the wall in one side and up against the cabinets in the other. Since we installed our new cabinets before they delivered the refrigerator, we had to go by the measurements off the owner’s manual available on sears website. We made our opening ½ inch bigger than the maximum opening of the refrigerator according to the manual. The problem is that the manual does not mention that in order for the doors to swing out they need 1 ½ inch space beyond the maximum opening. So even that we paid extra for the counter depth size we were forced to pull out the refrigerator past the counter to allow them to open (a very disappointing look) (This issue does not exist in any of the other makers)
2- Stainless Steel Kenmore PRO 30 in. Electric Single Wall Oven: Sears item# 02241003000 Mfr. model# 41003
• This model does not even have an automatic shut off timer (an option available on basic models)
• The side of the oven is black. A very unsightly look for a higher end model
• Basic options all around with nothing impressive.
• Very confusing and hard to use : the marks on the dials are on the left side on the 10 o’clock position however the correct on and off position is on top of the dial (no way to align the two) !!!#@
• The stove broke after six months of use and just died (it was used less than 10 times)
3- Stainless Steel Kenmore PRO Dishwasher
• This machine is a complete joke: You have two options for the silverware tray: You can either remove it and end up with one 2x2 inches tray or leave the whole thing in and have your silverware eat as much space as 20% of the bottom rack. If you subdivide the silverware racks (three parts) than there is nothing for them to hold one to?!!
• The Soap dispenser fails to open at least 25% of the times, so now I am forced to just leave it open instead of have in open automatically during the cycle.
It may sound that I am a little picky or looking to bash this product, but remember this product is advertised as Kenmore’s competition to Jenn-Air and Viking. I used to have the jenn-Air pro line in my old house, and let me tell you: there is no comparison. I was about to pay the same for the new Jenn-Air line or just a little more for Viking but I elected to go for Kenmore because I liked the way they looked at the store. I hope I am able to save you from wasting your money on Kenmore.
