I remember seeing somewhere else that these drives wouldnt be good in DV cams...

there currently are NONE available, and wouldnt really make for a good DV, as 5GB wouldnt hold enough to work right...

The way these hard drives are made is for reading a little bit of data (MP3, OGG, FLAc, etc) and then "parking" the drives head. In DV applications the drive would constantly have to be running and would waste battery quickly. Also could damage the drive since it's moving parts would be in dangerous positions (over the data) if it got bumped. This isn't exact, but something close to what I recall being said.

Not so far... the camcorders usually use SD cards to keep everything smaller. The Rio media is the size of a Compact Flash card, which will look sweet in my Canon A80

I wonder what happens if you farm out the 5gig card and plop in a regular 512meg CompactFlash card?

ahh you would have a 512mb player well not really little bit less cause you have to format it and put the firmware back on to it like the Muvo players.
