Ok this is my first post on SlickDeals, here goes...
-- With my E4400 inside... 1) I flashed my stock bios to the 945GCT-M (V1.0) [com.tw] BIOS. 2) In BIOS settings I went to Advanced Setup >> CPU TM Function >> Change to "Disabled" (This will unlock the multiplier from x6) .3) At the same screen you can Disable Speed-Stepping to make sure the multiplier stays at x10 all the time. 4) Now go to Frequency/Voltage Control >> Make sure Spread Spectrum is Enabled, and Auto Detect CPU Freqency is Enabled. 5) Now you can Overclock your E4x00 by changing the "CPU Over-clocking Freq" from 200 to higher. I have a E4400 in my system and 284.4 seems to be the highest setting even if i set my "CPU Over-clocking Freq" to anything higher it will still be 284.4 which is not bad considering that it brings the speed from 2 Ghz to 2.8 Ghz. I also got a 500W PSU and a Sapphire X1950XT Video Card. I Upgraded my RAM to 2 GB. Last time I ran 3DMark '05 I scored slightly over 12000. This is all with stock cooling (ASUS Fan) Overall Cost: $80.00 - for the SR5010NX (Just the tower, keyboard, and a ball mouse )$90.00 - for PC2-5300 Ram 1 GBx2 (Total 2 GB Ram) $39.99 - for a APEVIA ATX-CW500WP4 ATX 500W Power Supply [newegg.com] $129.99 - for a E4400 CPU $169.99 - for a SAPPHIRE Radeon X1950XT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 VIVO HDCP Video Card [newegg.com] ------------ $510 - Total price without Tax Last edited by NarcoZ; 07-20-2007 at 01:06 AM.. |

my e4300 is running at 250 x 9 ... so 2.25 ghz .. couldn't get it to anything higher ... 266 won't boot ..
there is no vcore settings in the bios so i guess that's all i can get .. wonder how you got it to go 28xmhz .... i used the asus hsf that came w/ the desktop and artic silver and now the temps are 46 idle 77-78 under load ...not sure if that's ok but i did the stress test for about an hour and haven't had errors yet .. i'll let the artic silver break in before running more stress test .. |

I will be testing it soon enough when the e4500 get in stock at a good price. The x11multiplier of the e4500 should be a good fit for this motherboard since its oc'ing is a bit limited. Hopefully I can at least hit 3ghz.

Flashed with the latest ECS 945GCT-M (V1.0) BIOS dated 7/24/2007 - It has been upgraded to recognize the E4500. Note: You must have the Celeron or other Compaq-recognized CPU installed in order to perform the flash. You cannot get past the E4500 Compaq/AMI error message screen to flash the BIOS. Easy overclock to 2.70 Ghz. You can get windows reactivated with the new BIOS, but you will have to enter the code from the sticker on the PC and in due course, you will be referred to microsoft's telephone inquisitors.
