F.Y.I., this is only the keyboard, the usb powered receiver that plugs into the computer is needed to make this work with XP media edition or any Vista version. Just for reference, I just picked up the keyboard, remote, and receiver new in the box for $50 delivered over on Ebay.

Just FYI, I have this keyboard and I have Vista. I haven't spent a tremendous time trying to reprogram it but the buttons skip with Vista, meaning if you select delete, it skips to the next selection on the screen. Again, I haven't spent a lot of time programming. Unless mine is defective, it won't work out of the box with Vista.

good deal, but having a keyboard connected to a htpc doesn't make sense for me. i'm all about the 10ft interface. if it can't be done with a remote, i don't really want to do it with my htpc.

but that's me....i sit at a keyboard all day.

your dinovo was also probably $100-150.

i have this keyboard and it's worked fine on XP and Vista. it sounds like you do have a defective keyboard. you should give microsoft a call since their keyboard/mouse support team is really good. usually they'll replace it free of charge w/o you sending back the original.

i'm not sure if you realized this was a wireless keyboard, so i'm not sure if you knew that when you said "keyboard connected to a htpc doesn't make sense for me". a keyboard is nice when you want to use your htpc with apps that require a keyboard, like surfing the web on your big screen 1080p TV or playing games that require the keyboard (though i wouldn't recommend this keyboard if you're using it to play games).

i personally have the microsoft wireless entertainment 7000 which has a bluetooth keyboard/mouse. i don't use the mouse at all with my setup and the keyboard's really nifty and includes a touch pad like mouse device on the keyboard itself.

I realize that the odds of anyone knowing this are slim, but I figured I'd ask anyway. Does anyone know if this works with OS X ? Yes, I know it was designed for a Windows Media Center computer, but my Mac Mini has an IR receiver and I am in the market for a wireless keyboard. Google hasn't turned up much, so I am guessing the answer is no. If anyone has tried it, please let me know.

Thanks OP. I've got a couple Media Center receivers hanging around so this will be great.

The mouse portion of this keyboard is not what I was expecting. It was either non-responsive or overly-sensitive, even after mouse speed adjustments in Windows. You will desire a mouse if you do anything other than mild surfing of the internet.

On the other hand, this keyboard paired with another wireless mouse would be great!!! I settled for a Logitech S510 http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-96...B000AY2L3U

It has around 10-15feet range and the battery life has been nothing short of phenomenal! The design and build quality is great. The mouse uses a special light (instead of red infrared beam) to track movements. So you can use it on most surfaces (cloth couch, ie.)

No, not all. Only IR receivers and only ones like USB-IRT, etc.
