Half of stores will raise the price $3 to get a set into the HDA, making this set $397 with HDA. Starting Sunday with the HDA raised to $700 this will become $297!!! The AmEx promo would take another $150 off as a giftcard. (No the $200 Panny install rebate is only for plasmas.)

UPDATES
Panasonic has renewed it's $200 rebate for plasma installs so that's another $200 off:

Here is a link to current promos at BB, (not all are there)

Many BB's are now just asking you to phone DTV and subscribe when you get home!! In store signup is a hassle for them.[/U][/B]
Sales tax is on the price of the tv before HDA is applied.
CC has the same $300 off for DTV but they verify actual installation of DTV and activation.
Box dimensions are on the BB website for each model. Pleeeeze don't flood the posts with requests for dimensions!
The way hdtv's are packed is that they sit on a sturdy base which can be lifted with the "box" more of a wrapper. Don't be scared to removed the box to transport. The Panny 42" 1080P is an especially big box and heavy and plasmas shouldn't be laid on their side for even a short time because of the glass. But again, it sits on a sturdy sled in the box.
Thanks to fatwalletlurker for his great thread on this!
THE DEAL:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/1455...396910435/
Above is the link to the BB promo. It requires:
1) Ordering DTV for $300 off the hdtv
2) Getting an audio system of $499 or more for another $100 off the hdtv
3) Ordering installation for another $100 off the hdtv, and
4) Getting a blu-ray or hd dvd player for yet another $100 off.
This thread is to discuss the HD Advantage deal and customers' experiences with it, not to encourage anyone to get the deal with the intent beforehand to return anything.
Of course anyone getting this deal would plan on keeping the DTV and accessories when they purchase them but of course you can change your mind and return any of them them and if so here is what happens:
You can immediately cancel the DTV order, pretend to order it, or ask for a number you can call when you get a chance and keep the $300 off the hdtv BB does not verify activation as CC does.
Almost everyone who changes their mind and returns the audio system and the hd player also gets to keep the $100 off each for those.
The install is harder to return for most people but can be done. However, most stores want you to go to the customer service desk at the original store to do so. This is because unless canceled by Geek Squad the install order stays on the computer forever.
Store people tell you that you must buy a DTV hd receiver for $99 but this is not true- let the DTV salesperson on the phone straighten them out on that.
Some people have also used the 10% off and actually gotten a $999 lg hdtv for $269 after returns.
No, this is not a sure thing except for the cancelable DTV $300. But it works easily for 99% of people. Customers have been doing this with the DTV $300 for months.
Anyone looking for a hdtv at BB should certainly get the $300 off for HDTV and change their mind if they want.
If someone decides not to keep the hd player and audio system the $100 off the hdtv for each of those stays.
Most people get to keep the $100 off the hdtv after returning the install also, but this is more ymmv.
My BB let me return/repurchase a Toshiba a2 hd dvd I got last friday for $99 for the $100 off the hdtv. No promo package code showed.
I purchased a $500 surround system which I returned next day but the $100 discount on the hdtv stayed.
I canceled the DTV service next morning and the $300 off stayed.
For installation I chose "programming a harmony remote" for $150 and the csr laughed and said "they should be ashamed" when she took this off.
I couldn't use the 10% off but some may be able to- very ymmv.
I purchased an open box Westy 47w1 that had been marked down from $1199 to $899- they raised the price back to list so I could get the hd deal and gave me $300 gift card which they applied to the purchase. The deal is not supposed to be for open box or certain special deals.
In the end I got a Westinghouse 47w1 1080p floor model which was reduced already to $999 for $299 plus tax minus the 4% rewards rebate I'll get.
Some Tips I've Learned and posted at FW earlier:
1. The DTV cancellation is easy. Goes without a hitch. Many simply hang up on DTV after the salesperson hands them the phone. The salesperson has the DTV promo sku and just has to enter it without any verification.
2.Many salespeople tell you that you must purchase a DTV receiver for $99. You do not have to- DTV provides new custome rs a receiver for free and if neccessary have a DTV rep talk to the salesperson and explain this. Otherwise if you buy one you may have to ebay it for $99.
3. Leave the tv for pickup or delivery. This way you can make sure the return deal works first.
4. Most $499 audio setups are a PAIN because they are so big and heavy to carry. Go for the Klipsch Qunitet III which is small and easy to tote! It's just speakers but qualifies.(Otherwise get a $500 receiver.)
5. Get the installation called "Programming a Harmony Remote" for $150. You don't have to, but I'd purchase a $99 Harmony also. If you need to return, returning a remote and it's programming makes sense. CSR's get a chuckle out of this one when returning. Just say your friend programmed your remote for you. (You'll have an installation slip from the salesperson and MUST have a cancellation of install # to convince the csr you don't need to go to Magnolia.)).
6. If you want an item that is open box they can raise it back to full price and give you a gift card for the discount and apply it to the purchase. This is not BB kosher but been done a lot. Also for tv's that are $989, like the West 42" 1080p, they can do the same to get it to $999, although about half the salespeople refuse to and half do.
7. Make your decision on what to keep or return asap. So many are doing this deal. If BB doesn't stop it they'll run out of hdtv's!
8. If you have trouble with a return of an accessory exchange it instead. This way you get a clean new receipt.
9. Stay calm- if it doesn't work you're out nothing but time.
For encounters with challenged salespeople you may want to help them by supplying the sku's for the promos.
The sku for the BB $300 off HD Advantage is Package 101839
The sku for the DTV $300 promo is 8309109
Seasoned salespeople know how to work the BB system better to get a deal.
Novices gum up the works and take a loooong time putting the deal together.

I prefer Dish Network HD over DTV and for those who get this and cancel the DTV consider the free HD-DVR you can get from Dish. Only Dish has the VOOM HD channels which are amazing quality nature and arts channels. They also have most other HD channels now- I think around 60. This offer is even good if you're a current Dish subscriber so long as you have not had a promotion in the past twelve months. The Dish HD DVR sells for about $500, is at least as good as TiVo , and you can "lease" it for $5/month. If you're new to HD you also get the first 6 months of HD free, which just costs $20/mo over regular regular Dish. Installation and dishes are always free.
The free HD DVR is as good a deal as the one in this thread!
(I'm not sniping anyone as I'm the OP on both this thread and that one. )
