H&R Block TaxCut Premium + State + E-file $25.71
I was looking around and I found a link to get H&R Block Premium + State + E-file for $33.71. Price is normally $44.95. I know I saw other deals on here but none of them had State and efiling included. The Fidelity link has State for an additional $22.

Anyway this is the best deal I found around for it. After clicking the link, I also linked through E-bates and it took me to the same partner link that I already had open. Hopefully it should give me another 12% off via E-bates... I'll let you guys know if I get the credit. That would make it $29.67.

I don't know if its the best deal around... but after a decent amount of searching FW and SD.. and then googling myself... this is the best I found.

Here is the link:

H&R Block
[hrblock.com]

****I got my E-bates credit for $4.05. So my final cost was $29.66****

Thanks to IlliniDude. Here is a link through Amex.. not sure you have to use an Amex to pay. His price is $29.22. If you also link through E-bates after clicking on the Amex link... you can also get another 12% off as I said above... making it $25.71.

Amex - H&R Block [hrblock.com]

Please give IllniDude rep points for the lower price!

@as1dog2another: I'm not sure of the difference... but your link would be for "TaxCut Free File" and mine is for "TaxCut Premium". If you have a simple return and take the standard deduction, I doubt you need Premium. But it definitely is a comprehensive software to find all the deductions you can get.

I should have said "or you can do this". It's a basic way to file if you don't need a complicated return. Good deal on the premium for sure!

I haven't used TaxAct so can't really compare it to that... but last year I used H&R Block and also did my taxes on TurboTax and they are pretty much equivalent. Came out with the exact same amounts after deductions. Its really easy to use and has descriptions and explanations for everything.

I'm thinking this is a one-time-use fee. Great if all you are doing is your own return. If you also do a family member or two (last I read the EULA, you were allowed to do family members off the same software), and they don't qualify for the freebie version, they'd have to pay an additional $34 each. If you buy the boxed software, all they'd have to pay is the e-file fee.

Thanks OP. This looks like a great deal if you want to efile. The only one that was better was the Office Max deal a couple weeks back. Has anyone seen anything better before I jump on this deal?

So, we have to pay $68 for joint filing?

Great deal, but I have decided to NOT efile anymore..

The IRS can automatically 'red flag' your returns with their electronic system. Using the paper system is slower, I know. However, they are FAR less likely to audit you since they have to look at your return by hand and they just don't have the man power to look at these paper returns when the electronic system provides an easy (cheap) way to spot those in need of an audit.

My wife and many of our friends are physicians, and people I've talked to lately who are in this income bracket do not efile for this reason.

In usage taxact is very similar to taxcut or turbotax. Pricewise the most expensive taxact is $19 (fed, state and 1 free fed efile) so it is usually cheaper unless you get a really good deal on one of the others.

No - a joint return is a single return. If you were doing a 'married - filing separately', then each party would have to pay their own fee.
