The 8000 series is better for decoding HD content, if you are looking to use this for HTPC purposes

Not exactly HTPC but for gaming AND HTPC, the only time htpc would come into play is when im watching movies but i have no problem with that so is this a good card for gaming?

should be adequate for most games -- unless youre playing something like crysis. Newegg's reviews are helpful [newegg.com]. Its probably the best bang for your buck as far as sub-$70 graphics cards go. I have the 8500 GT (much less of a gamer card) which is apparently hindered by its DDR2 memory --- I still can run HALO, HALO2, DOOM 3 at normal settings without a hitch, so this card should be fine for you, having the DDR3 memory.
