Free Food (& other stuff) on Election Day – Nov 4, 2008 (Index to threads)
Get ready for some good eating on Election Day. Recover from that long wait in line (too bad you can't get the food ahead of time FOR the long wait in line! ).

See Wiki (below) for links to individual threads with details.

Know of a freebie deal not listed here? Please add it to the Wiki.

Self promotion is prohibited. If you're creating an account simply to post your company's "deal" here, don't bother. Those posts will be deleted.

I'm not going to bother with any new offers that aren't totally free (no more of this "$5 off when you spend $50" carp ).

Disclaimers:

Your mileage may vary. Free food subject to substitutions or early termination due to high demand. Remember to keep that sticker they give you. Voted early and didn't get a sticker? Maybe you can find one on the ground outside a polling place. Did you remember to change your clock back? Changed the batteries in your smoke detectors?

Reminder: This thread is for discussion about places with free food (and other) offers on Tuesday.

Political comments should go in the Podium forum

And that warm, fuzzy feeling you'll get inside after you cast your vote for one of the best group of candidates...well, at least better than...um, on the other hand...never mind.

You must be one of the lucky few. Although I never said "hours" (or even "hour"), have you checked the news recently? In many areas around the country, people who voted early the last few weeks have had to wait hours.

Turnout on Tuesday is expected to be very high, and long waits will not be uncommon. Most people will want to bring a book, MP3 player, game (remember the earphones), etc. Maybe even a snack.

It might depend by state? In New York in the 2004 Presidential election and the 2006 Mass governor's election I just walked in, and voted. These are very urban areas though, it seems to only be a couple states like Florida that have these problems
