No batteries. Works like a regular phone, but reduced greatly in size. And you don't need to use your hands to talk. I have a similar model from a different company (one of the Bells) and it's pretty handy. May not be for everyone.

I was just looking for a cheap corded phone because we get a lot of power outages and all my phones are cordless and can't be used without power. Something like this to keep in my bedroom in case of an emergency was well needed and now that it's free, it's even better!

I used to have a similar phone... Don't expect it to last a lifetime. You can't beat FREE though.

These first came out in asia like 6 years ago. i bought mine in korea then and i still love it. believe it or not the asian ones are smaller too.
i highly reccomend it. if u don't like it then u can always still use the mic and ear bud for other things like cellphones.

The earphone fits into your ear, like some types of headphones. Takes a bit of adjusting to.
