If you need lightbulbs, you're much better off to get compact flourescent bulbs.

Yes, CFL's will cost you a little more up front, but they'll pay off big time on your electric bill.

I just got a pack of 3 CFLs/60w for $5.00 at HD, SKU '7 6214899143 4' . If you don't see them with the other CFLs (singles), look over by the lamps or just ask the 'light guy/gal' where are the '3 Packs' of CFLs. Be carefull, the grey colored (SKU 1434) pack is $5, but the blue colored pack (SKU 1435) is $9.00 (almost same darn bulbs).

I'm in the LA area and at some of the home depots here have 100w (23w) CFL bulbs for .99 cents. So Cal Edison is offsetting the cost of the bulbs i guess, since there is a big sticker on it saying so.

i bought a bunch for our apartment, and i like them a lot better than other CFL i've used. They give off a light closer to normal light bulbs, IMHO.

Anyone know if 40watt equivalent CFLs exist? All I've seen are the 60 and 100watt.

Thanks for the good posts Bargainshop, I was wondering the other day when you'd post some more deals for us.

Although I think I pass on the Phillips bulbs, they don't seem to last long for me. I bought some as "cover" items for the .01 grill sets and have already gone through 5 of them (in the same lamp).

Just checked out my local OD, found some 4-pk 60W Phillips bulbs, but no 8-packs. Did you ever get the SKU/UPC?
