Comcast Digital Cable w/ HD, HBO & PVR - $39.99/mo for 12 months (YMMV?)
I got this postcard in the mail the other day. Given that my Dish Network contract is up next week, I may have to take advantage of this.

--------
Satellite customers, take control & get digital cable with:
  • A dual tuner HD DVR
  • HDTV for no extra charge
  • HBO & HBO on Demand
  • A second digital cable box

$39.99 per month for a year!

Dual-tuner HD DVR - record one show while watching another & store up to 60 hours of programs!

Looks like you get the Digital Cable Silver package with HBO and Comcast On Demand.

Other notes in the fine print:
  • Offer expires 2/21/05 & is available only to new or former Comcast subscribers in Comcast subscriber areas who current have satellite dish or Qwest Choice TV service.
  • Additional digital converter is provided free of charge for 12 months, then the regular rates applies.
  • You must transfer all ownership rights of your satellite dish (and related equipment) to Comcast, free of any future claims.
  • Comcast will remove the satellite receiver(s) and may not collect the satellite dish.
  • To receive HD features and benefits, you need HD equipment ... yada yada yada.
  • Monthly HDTV equipment charges, in addition to applicable service charges, apply.
  • After 12 months, Comcast DVR service is an additional $9.95 per month per box.
--------

So it looks like it's $39.99/mo, plus taxes and fees, with no additional monthly surcharges for the DVR ($9.95/mo) or HD ($5/mo). Going through Comcast alone would be almost $85/mo with the first month free.

This offer may be targeted to Denver-area subscribers only. "Code: DSH" is just above my address.

1-888-824-8061 for more details.

I have the Dish 510 DVR receiver and a regular Dish 311 receiver. I wonder if I hide my Dish 510, they'll just take the 311, and I'll sell my 510 later. I love Dish Network, and I would especially miss the Sirius Satellite Radio feeds, but this would cut my TV-viewing bill by almost half.

I've never had issues with Comcast. They drove me away because of their always-increasing cable rates and overpriced broadband. This $39.99/mo offer is guaranteed for 12 months, when, at that time, I'll go back to satellite.

I am deffinately thinking of going Dish From Time warner cabe, Tired of getting it in the butt price wise, freaking digital cable + Roadrunner = $100-110 after taxes, and that is NO premium channels, for friggin $75 a month I could get ALL premium channels with dish.

Me too...hmm...and they blocked my Starz channel...freaking mad...guess I'd better call them.

UPDATE: Called Comcast just now and they lowered my bill by $5.00 + added back the Starz channel. Guess it's better than nothing...asked if they could give me special rate for internet connection...the best price was for $34.95, I asked for 19.99 for 1 year. They said that promotion is already over so I asked for $24.99-$29.99 and they wouldn't budge a bit so I told them I might as well go with dsl. End of discussion, hate Comcast now...

My frickin' basic analog Cable service from Adelphia is $42.50 before any fees. Adelphia doesn't have any HD or DVR options in my area. Adelphia sucks.

I need to switch to Satellite TV if I can find a hot deal.

I was paying over $100 for my TV and internet through Comcast. I called yesterday and told them I couldn't afford it anymore.

The CS rep gave me the same service for $50/month for six months. After 6 mos. she said I could call back and see if there were any other promos going on.

Digital Cable in southern KY

Same deal here. I switched last week from Dish Network. The great thing is you can bundle this with high-speed cable internet for 60.95....10 bucks less then I was paying for Dish Network alone.

Sorry, should've replied earlier. Anyway, I got Comcast installed, reception was horrible compared to Directv (and I had the installer confirm I had a strong signal) so I cancelled the next day and continued using Directv. Oh well..didn't get charged anything, but I'm still stuck paying more...but the picture is so much better and I'm not even using an HD signal.

Yes, Discovery Channel in HD was awesome, but the regular network shows looked the same for the most part (I have a Hitachi 57S500). Anyway, I'll just have to wait until HD local channels is available and HD-Tivo is cheaper...
